OH, Maggie!!!! We're all so very happy for you; may you live a long and happy, healthy lifetime full of companionship!

"She trumpets, knocks down trees and calls for her companions when they wander too far, say her new keepers. "She's the comedian of the crowd," said Pat Derby, president of the Performing Animal Welfare Society sanctuary. "She's Ms. Personality."

This is the kind of news we all need here once in a while, to stop us from sinking, knowing every action, no matter how small, is worthwhile...

Thanks very much!

Great news for Maggie! and they said it couldn't be done. There is a lone female elephant in the edmonton zoo, Lucy, who lives in a small enclosure deemed one of the worst in the country and the zoo says the same thing that the alaskan zoo tried. She is healthy but too sick to travel. There is a petition on this site, Save Lucy the Elephant. Maggie proved the alaska zoo wrong and is thriving. Lucy should have the same chance for sanctuary.
