"According to the New York Times, Vermont Senator Patrick J. Leahy said that "the program and broader government data-mining efforts could make it more difficult for innocent Americans to travel or to get a job -- without giving them the chance to know why they were labeled a security risk."

Nice, huh? - NOted

Because of Freedom of Speech, or what we believed was our right to speak out. It seems if you do now, you end up on a watch list!

And I'm sure they have Barry, seems the only place safe is in your own mind, even that might be temporary if they get their way. Like there haven't been enough mind control experiments done by the government!!

Oh, I know I'M on the list and proud to be! Over the last 4 or 5 years, I've sent some incredibly incendiary e-mails to just about every big national D.C. agency you could think of from GWB on down.
I have heard there are two lists; the red list and the blue list. People on the red list are to be executed immediately, people on the blue list go into concentration camps to be executed later.
I hope I'm on the red list. If I'm not, I'm trying to work my way there! LOL!
Thanks, Aisha!

Gosh--I've had a small bag packed and am ready to be whisked away to Guantanamo at all times (just joking about the bag), but there have been compromised security issues on my computer for months now and I just keep cleaning it and have added even additional level of security. I know, since I have sent mail to the White House and signed petitions with the President as the target audience, that I am bound to be on some kind of list. I know that my Rep. once had me listed in his office as a "mild" security risk--I saw it pop up when it shouldn't have. He uses one of those coded message software programs--and it goofed and I saw it. So, you are right, all you have to have done is one petition really and your activity begins to get tracked. The more strident one is in comments, further up the chain of supposed threats you are. Gee, would love to see those lists and all the others that the author didn't get to see. Haven't tried to fly anywhere recently but I will be s ure to allow extra time at the airport!

Thanks Aisha for the post. Charles & Tim -- I think that probably anyone that still thinks rationally is on the list. Rational and informed thinkers are an enemy to this administration.

Well, I still believe I have the right to disagree with war, and I don't intend to stop my opinion. This is 'supposed' to be a democratic socity, and as such, I am allowed my opinion. If this is not the case anymore, and I am not allowed this benifit, that has existed since the beginning of our Nation, so be it. Under the Constituion, I am not breaking the law, and I shall defend my rights as long as it is allowed. If I am on the 'red list', than they are definitely scraping the bottom of the batch, cuz I'm about the last person that is 'dangerous' to their ideological craziness. So be it, but I do not intend to hold my mouth. I feel that if I am not a danger to anyone, they I should be allowed to speak my mind. Too many of our former Presidents said it is actually a 'treasonous' act Not to state your disagreements with any administration, or the Presidnet himself. If we have lost this right, then we really in troulel

As far as us thinking Tim, they have been working on that......fluoride which they have been adding to drinking water for years now! Isn't that what they used in China to make the people more complacent?

# Neurotoxic and Lowers IQ
In 1995, neurotoxicologist and former Director of toxicology at Forsyth Dental Center in Boston, Dr. Phyllis Mullenix published research showing that fluoride built up in the brains of animals when exposed to moderate levels. Damage to the brain occured and the behavior patterns of the animals was adversely effected. Offspring of pregnant animals receiving relatively low doses of fluoride showed permanent effects to the brain which were seen as hyperactivity (ADD-like symptoms). Young animals and adult animals given fluoride experienced the opposite effect -- hypoactivity or sluggishness. The toxic effects of fluoride on the central nervous system was subsequently confirmed by previously-classified government research. Two new epidemiological studies which tend to confirm fluoride's neurotoxic effects on the brain have shown that children exposed to higher levels of fluoride had lower IQs.

When I was in the Navy I held a high security clearance...when my son went into the military in the '80's(Army -- his father & I both retired from Navy LOL) they did a very thorough security check on him...he had a very hard time getting his clearance because I was a Vet protesting Vietnam & lobby for legalizing marijuana. I know I am on the list!

Agreed, Charles!
Also, I don't know how many here are familiar with the so-called "chemtrails", but that's got alot to do with it, too.
Yes, I have Emphysema and Systemic Lupus and my health is
quite poor, but here in Northeast Tennessee we have been
getting chemtrailed for 10 years, and I often wonder how
much that has to do with the condition of my health.
I know full well it was a contributing factor.
Our guns will be taken from us soon, a la Canada, UK,
Australia, New Zealand, etc., because a dis-armed populace
is so much easier to enslave. Well, they've been doing
the chemtrailing for the same reason. When the populace is
sick and weak, AND un-armed they are doubly easy to enslave.

In August 2004, Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) told a Senate Judiciary Committee discussing the No Fly List that he had appeared on the list and had been repeatedly delayed at airports. He said it had taken him three weeks of appeals directly to Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge to have him removed from the list. Kennedy said he was eventually told that the name "T Kennedy" was added to the list because it was once used as an alias of a suspected terrorist. There are an estimated 7,000 American men whose legal names correspond to "T Kennedy." (Senator Kennedy, whose first name is Edward and for whom 'Ted' is only a nickname, would not be one of them.) Recognizing that as a U.S. Senator he was in a privileged position in being able to contact Ridge, Kennedy said of "ordinary citizens": "How are they going to be able to get to be treated fairly and not have their rights abused?"

How can I find out if I am on the No Fly List or Selectee List?
The government will not say who is or is not on these lists. People first learn that they are on the lists -- or are mistaken for someone on the lists -- when they encounter problems at the airport. If you are ultimately allowed onto a plane, this means you are not on the No Fly List (although you may be on the Selectee List). Typically, affected people cannot use the internet or the airport kiosks for automated check-in, and instead must report to the ticket counter in person. Airline personnel sometimes, but not always, are willing to tell passengers whether they are on a list or what part of their name matches someone on the list.

this is such crap! I will shut up when they put me in the crematory. This is facism at its very worst. That is actually a point of facism to supress intellectuals ie, people who think for themselves and say what they think. I know I am on several lists. One day I put my name on google and quite a few things came up including my reviews of several restaurants in Cambridge. Well I will continue to fight injustice wherever and whenever I see it. If they don't like it, they can come and get me now!!!!!!!

What goes around, comes around. At a Zapatista protest in front of the Mexican consulate to support the people in Oaxaca and opposed Mexican President Vicente Fox, one of the things we chanted was:

Fox! Facista! Tenemos en la lista! (Fox! Fascist! We've got you on the list!)

The government needs computers to keep track of us because we are so many, but we know who they are because they are so few. Each of them spends more on personal security in a day (well, it's taxpayer money), for secret service bodyguards, armored vehicles, advance teams to clear any area they might wish to visit, crowd control swat teams with riot gear, etc., than most of us spend on rent or mortgages in a year. And they only fly in government, military, charter or private planes. They know they're hated. The only time they dare show their faces for a photo op is when no citizens who haven't been cleared are allowed within rifle range. Does that look like they feel very safe and secure to you? Even so, millions of the majority of Americans who oppose Bush and his war crimes aren't on any lists at all, because they carefully keep their mouths shut so that they can keep their jobs and support their families. And as their jobs are outsourced and they lose their healthcare, they too become outspoken and have to be added to the list. Bush has a 66% disapproval rating. When 66% of your citizens don't like you, you have to keep some mighty long lists.

I wouldn;t be be surprised at all...when Rick and I drove to the crossing point to Canada on our way to Prince Edward Island for our honeymoon in 2003, US Customs stopped us. We were brought inside and they took our driver's licenses to check against their databases, and then the searched our car. It wasn't fun hauling our stuff out of the trunk - we had paxcked for 2 weeks - or the glove compartment.

salaams! I know Im on the "list"--smile..thats what caught my attention for this article-so many of us are as Charles pointed out-if you have a mind and a mouth and use it...and Ron-your comment on 1942 Germany-yea.thought we were headed that way with the camp...hmmm..and adyLou-thanx for your comment--Im very anti-war-like you and since we are-we are automatically oin the list-those involved in anti-war groups, petitions, environmental issues, and animal rights-are red flags to them (why those three??? who knows..) anyhow-as Im involved in all three, plus other peaceful, NON violent activist issues (HIV/AIDS, end to homelessness, end to racism, religious/spiritual freedom-and many others)-BESIDES being muslim..lolol...-ohhhh wee) -Ive actually been at my computer-had all my mail LOCKED DOWN and couldnt open it!! (Their system was scanning it) Ive also had emails disappear RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES!! Ghosts in da machine!! Then they return it after about 5-10 minutes-sometimes tho-they put it in the wrong screen name !!! ( I have 3).....I think the majority of data collection on people is being done via our PC's and tracking our mail, groups, sites etc. Like micro chiops in every PC...But sadly as Cate described-I think the border patrol in Canada is a mild reflection as to what it is going to be like here very soon, and as Mindi mentioned-will make it hard to travel -get to jobs-we will be interrogated at every red light-my uncle talked about this back in the 1980's---predicted it all down to the T---but I was too young to comprehend the changes and truth he was telling me...I sure see it now-just awaiting the tanks patrolling the streets next...
Thanks everyone for most informative responses...and Betina--I just found out it did make front page! (just got home & signed on!!)
love n peace n blessings A'isha

I got hit last night at 3am by a professional tact squad who couldn't keep their story striaght,no warrent, lie after lie, I am very ill, disabled, and they said on a whim of a phone call, first I was going to kill myself and had a gun, then I had several guns, the caller was anonymous, then they said I had a homoicde murderer in here with several guns and was suicididal. They were in full army fatigues, not police uniforms, some where down the hall I can't get far without wheelchair. There was also someone working on the Katrina group that
out she got blacklisted just sending letters, signing petitions shortley after Katrinica my SUBMISSION, FOR ANOTHER ACTIVIST FROM THE US THAT GOT ARRESTED CROSSING THE BOARDER AND CARE2 HAS REFUSED TO PUT ON THE FRONT PAGE AND SHOULD HAVE LAST NIGHT

Das List, oh no.... Thx Aisha.

Conquered states that have been accustomed to liberty and the government of their own laws can be held by the conqueror in three different ways. The first is to ruin them; the second, for the conqueror to go and reside there in person; and the third is to allow them to continue to live under their own laws, subject to a regular tribute, and to create in them a government of a few, who will keep the country friendly to the conqueror: Niccolo Machiavelli, The Prince
