It is clear that Merck is targeting children with its marketing for Children's Claritin®. Packaging for the medication features characters from Dreamworks' Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted movie, and each box offers "5 free stickers" to purchasers.

I know noone is surprised to see pharmaceutical companies acting with no ethics, but that doesn't mean we should become apathetic about them. Please sign this and send a message that this is not acceptable. If a medication is required it is not up to a three year old who loves a funny zebra to decide, it's the job of a loving and informed parent with the assistance of impartial specialists.

I hate claritin. I used to have to take it as a child for a constantly runny nose. As I got older, I discovered the problem - too much dairy in my diet. It was that simple.

Merck makes good products; BUT I agree, promoting sales for our children, making the package attractive to children, helps only the manufacture ($-wise). I don't use this product but lots of my adult family members do and get good results. The big difference is they are adults and can make a good decision as to use; children look at packaging and think its candy so it must be good. I'm glad my daughter always questions the use of extra drugs doctors may prescribe for my grandkids.

I have believed for some time that the pharmaceutical companies have a goal of every individual on this planet being on at least one type of medication.

I agree with Jim. All guilty parties should be fined and/or thrown in jail! We have no morality left in America it seems. The almighty dollar seems to give permission to throw out any sense of values and respect for others' rights. The love of money is the root of all evil... sound familiar?

NO! PARENTS buy the drugs for their kids. If the kids are being allowed to pick or purchase the OTC drugs they take then the parents should lose custody of their children and the stores that sell the drugs to minors need to be shut down. It is the parents that need to be held accountable for their actions not the corporations.

It's bad enough adults are buying drugs they don't need bacause ads tell them they will help. A good diet would be better, but no one is advertising that. When these drug companies start aiming their ads at kids, they should be held liable for child endangerment, because that's exactly what it is.

Signed! At first I was thinking it helps the parents make it easier to give their children allergy medications! I have a child that hates taking medicine even when it's absolutely necessary so making it appealing for the child could make it helpful! Then I came to my senses and realized that too many children take too much medication partly due to the advertising! Thanks for posting!
