Wheeling down a flight of stairs may no longer be a formidable challenge for those confined to a wheelchair. Israeli company SoftWheel has developed a next-generation wheel that has its own inner-suspension system for shock absorption. See also video.

Such an incredibly simple idea-where the heck has wheel chair manufacturers been? Apparantly in the business of loosing a fortune.

Great idea for those with the use of both arms but too bad Americans couldn't have come up with the idea!! Come on my fellow Americans we can come up with wheelchair ideas too!! Preferably electric wheelchairs!!

hmm - fine for going down, but what about going up? oh, the wheelchair was a quickie, an american brand, even if the wheel technology was not. sorry to be a party pooper, but i did find this one less than amazing.

Fascinating...but do agree that what goes down had to have gone up at some point...or will have to go back, and up those same stairs.
