CATASTROPHIC NEWS REGARDING THE STREET DOGS IN BiH! The ruling politicians from Bosnia are working hard to suspend the law from 2009 that is in the favor of street dogs. Accordingly, the brutal killing of stray dogs will be allowed again!

Signed with hope in my heart that the goverment do not allow the slaughter of these innocent dogs that suffer so much misery and cruelty each and every day by uncaring heartless humans, they deserve to be found loving homes instead of being butchered to death!!!!!!!!! This is always in my heart and thoughts, praying for the beautiful dogs.!!!!!So sad the way dogs are treated around the world and its humans who have allowed this to happen,spey/neuter is the way forward then there would not be any unwanted stray dogs that suffer immense pain, fear and brutal deaths.HUMANS have so much to answer for!!!!! Thank you Henriette and Desanka.Liz Xx

After I read this article in Bosnian newspapers, I think some things are just too unbelievable for words.

http://protest.ba/v2/neandertalaci-naseljeni-u-vukojebini/

This is translation of important parts

NEANDERTHALS FROM THE GODFORSAKEN

Municipal Chief of the Old City Hadzibajric Ibrahim held an emergency meeting today with representatives of the Association for the Protection of Animals. According to what Hadžibajrić told the media, suggest that the reason for the meeting was in fact that he ask public apology from the representatives of the association for 543 e-mails he had received from around the world.

This e-mails were sent to Municipal Chief in order to draw the attention of the media to the situation in the pound Hresa. Three months ago, animal rights activists were mention to close this pound, due to a number of irregularities discovered in his functioning and documented animal abuse.

Since the dogs have become the number one issue in BiH, one of the "strong" Hadzibajric arguments at the meeting was how "no one mentions 5000 dog bites." (Department of Public Health last year officially published that was 745 dog bites).

Hdzibajric and his companions have figured out a great way to work - sign a cooperation agreement with the slaughterhouse Hresa! There they will massacre dogs from the city, and in the same time they will soothe the people who protest because of dogs attacks. This will ensure the next mandate for them. Chief-chair is obviously more important than the spilled blood of innocent animals. It is important to keep the traditions of the Paleolithic era and slaughter, slaughter, slaughter ...

But the municipality of Stari Grad is doing "all by the law"! Last weekend in the media have appeared information about the killing of dogs - Municipal Chief all officially denied.

President of the Association for Protection of Animals, Smailbegović Adnan, said: "At today meeting Municipal Chief Hdzibajric repeatedly avoided the answer to the question of the fate of starving and frozen dog from a shelter in Hresa. He said he would give us the answer to this question only when the 543 people, who sent emails, apologize to him.

Association for Animal Protection and Welfare in Bosnia and Herzegovina for years appeal to media and public about the irresponsible ownership, massacring and burning live animals, and that in Bosnia finally someone should be held accountable for that.

Today, we reminded about this topic Municipal Chief, but he only briefly answered that "is better for animals to be in the shelter than on the street." To wait for death on wet concrete floor, without food and water, obviously is better than if someone poured acid on dogs, or boiling oil, or cut off there feet, shove a nail in their eyes, burned them alive, threw a firecracker in their mouth ... The most important is that the "good" people (who torture animals) are not punished and that "our children are safe on the street."

Municipal Chief asked us to give him the best solution for the "removal" of dogs from the streets. Media reports "no one has a solution."

For the umpteenth time, we repeat - the solution is in the sterilization and neutering programs, in promotion of responsible ownership and adoption of stray dogs, in education how to treat animals in the humane way, and to show compaction for dogs that no one wants ...

We show our self to the world as Neanderthals from the godforsaken, where everything is solving with killing. While civilized people vomit seeing pictures and reading articles that animal activists publish every day and send around the world, Municipal Chief teach us that the method "smash head with a hammer" is only right one.

And, when all things considered, this meeting would never been held without previous attention of domestic and international media. If we put aside our investigation, the icy water, wet floor in boxes and moldy bread, that we have seen the track taking away the dogs to Hreša, if we put aside that we have recognized many dogs in the pound Hresa ... while we have this Municipal Chief we have "better future" - in both entities.

Noted and "signed" - 1. the petition linked to this article; 2. and 3. listed in comments by Desanka S. (I "signed" one of those a few days ago and left a comment there). I did not leave a comment this time (even though I know that a "signature" with a comment carries more "weight") because the original petition texts sum it all up and they mention spay and neuter and banning puppy breeding. The EU protest mentioned in a comment also by Desanka S. has now ended.

I do not think that Eastern European (and Asian) countries are necessarily worse than (for example) the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Canada or Australia; it is just that the latter countries are more "refined" about how they kill animals and it all happens away from the public. Some U.S. states are even attempting to increase penalties for undercover investigations and video recordings of factory farms, slaughter houses, research laboratories and other animal killing industries. Croatia, which is similar to Bosnia and Herzegovina is actually one of the first countries in the world to ban fur farming (although the ban goes into effect in 2017.); no primates are used in experiments; household and personal hygiene products are not tested on animals; no dolphins are kept in captivity; the use of wild animals in circus acts is banned and the bear population is one of the largest in Europe and has trippled since 1995 (it is now about 1,000); about 45% of the land is covered in natural and nature-identical forests; and per-capita meat consumption is about half that of the United States of America or Australia. Hopefully, Bosnia and Herzegovina is going in the same direction Croatia. I recently made a donation to PETA (USA) - I think that country needs all the help it can get.

This is heartbreaking!! These poor dogs did not ask to be born and they certainally are not asking to be murdered. Why can't they set up a special rate and get them spayed and neutured??? Do they not have any compassion at all??

It is important that we keep on speaking up for those who cannot speak for themselves both human and animal. Abuse of people or animals is pure evil and must be stopped-- It is dispicable that people can do horrble things to mistreat other living creatures who have done no harm to them. Individuals who commit these cruel acts should be punished and governments that do it should be abolished!!
