Around 170,000 dogs are abandoned in Cyprus every year! The Cypriot parliament passed legislation which allows euthanasia of stray animals. This is against the right to live and we demand that the parliament terminate this law.

Cyprus is an idyllic holiday location, but it's also home to animal cruelty on a frightening scale. Cruelty to dogs and cats makes frequent headlines. Before and after the tourist season, government cleans the streets from cats and dogs in Cyprus. Many animals are poisoned and die a very painful death, others are beaten, hanged and strangled, hit by cars and left to die.
The number of birds killed on lime sticks and in mist nets in Cyprus last autumn reached number over 860,000 and the winter is devoted to hunting down what little remains of wildlife in the countryside.

This is terrible that so many stray dogs are killed in Cyprus They should have a right to live If there are so many stray dogs then there should be a plan against irresponsible owners and making it harder for people to own a dog in the first place and if they do there should be help with neutering these animals Dogs are mans best friend It isnt there fault if they end up on the street and it is cruel just to euthanase them It is people being totally irresponsible
signed thankyou

There is only so much aid none of it should be going to animals esp pets. Get your values straight. People first.

Why has every country got the same mind-set with regards to the stray dog problem and that is to murder as many dogs as possible. Why can't these so-called governments carry out more spay/neuter programmes, educate the ignorant and indifferent masses and curtail indiscriminate breeding? The dogs are there through no fault of their own, they are the innocent victims but they have to pay the ultimate price, with their lives. Shame on all governments who have lost all compassion, all empathy and certainly all moral ethics.
