Prenatal Alcohol Exposure Effects Last Well Into Childhood

Children who aren't born with mental retardation and/or deformities due to drinking mothers still have physical effects, including smaller heads, than those born to non-drinking moms. Fetal alcohol exposure increases risks of anti-social behavior later.

Last year here in the UK a study was done and found that alcohol was the most damaging drug both to the individual and to society, even more than heroin, cocaine, crack or any other drug and the government tried to keep it from being made public! They care so much about our health they've virtually outlawed smoking and made the price of cigarettes prohibitive, yet you can buy alcohol in the markets for less than bottled water and the cost to our national health system is in the billions from the diseases, accidents and violence associated with this disgusting, filthy drug.

Maybe it is because there are so many alcohol addicts in Parliament is why nothing is being done about this scourge? Such hypocrisy!

Lets not forget the predisposition to the child growing up to become an alcoholic.

Alcohol and cigarettes - the legal drugs. More deaths caused by DUI's than any other drug, including street drugs and pharmaceuticals.

Its such a sick situation because imagine the enormous cost of looking after these children by the NHS in UK and God only help them in USA.
It is such a sad state of affairs for a child to have a parent drunk or puffing on a joint or even coping with prescription drugs before or even after they are born.
Thanks for posting Rob and Jay

With the increase in teenage pregnancies, unfortunately more and more people will drink while pregnant. It's a sad society we live in.

Rin S, and don't forget all of those unwanted pregnancies that happen under the influence of alcohol - a drug that deadens the conscience and center for responsible action in the brain. It is also involved in most sex crimes at universities.

Some 1400 youths in the US alone die each year due to alcohol!!!!!!!! Where is the outrage? If even 1/10th of these kids dies from smoking you know there would be action, but our cowardly lawmakers fear the powerful alcohol cartels too much. Shame on them.
