Spain: six activists jump into the bullring

Last May 4th, six activists from the spanish AR org Equanimal
(http://www.equanima l.org) jumped into the bullring (el ruedo) of Las
Ventas, in Madrid (one of the most famous in the world), during a
"bullfighting" (corrida) avoiding the security staff. The bullkilling was
being broadcasted live on TV.

We held banners demanding the abolition of bull-killings (in spanish
and english). It's been the first time that AR activists perform such an
action.

We jumped into the sand after the first bull was killed, the staff was
preparing "el ruedo" for the next bull. The public attending to the
bull-killing got shocked to the bones, shouting angrily against our
activists.

It took several minutes for the police to come, so one bullfighter
himself and some others bull-killing businessmen involved in that
particular "corrida" had to jump into the sand also to violently take the signs
away from the activists.

The activist spent the night in jail, but they´ve been already
released, and now they are going to be judged.

Media coverage has been nationwide, the news being broadcasted in
several nationwide TV and radio channels.

I hope more and more people follow their example. Security will have to be tightened in the bull-ring costing the organizers more money. Thats how the business will be ended by hitting their profits!!!

Sheesh!!! I commented saying that only wimps and sissies need to do this kind of killing to "be real men" and they said my post had swearing in it and didn't post it! And I also asked why they let some man in tights take away all their signs, but then also complimented them on taking action. Ah, well.... you all can read it here instead.

This is just the kind of direct action that gets results!! These guys are simply awesome and will let nothing stand in their way of fighting against this dispicable spectacle!!

Bull Fighting is Barabrism of worst order practiced by the so called advanced society. Some 2000 years ago the Romans did such things when human beings were treated worse than animals.
The activists have to be commended for the gallant act.

Omg! I am so angry that the bullfighters had to attack the activists, doesn't that say something about their attitude? I wissh I could go there and do the same to them!!! GRRRRR!!

Alf, you´re right, it will hit them where it hurts, but unfortunately this government AND the European Parliament, give them subsidies of about €560 MILLION per year!! This is something that cannot be tolerated and the best way to protest is by writing to your MEP and complaining that YOUR TAXES are paying for this despiccable murder! We're protesting here to the government, and there's a really good website, in Spanish and in English, directed at MEPs which you might want to take inspiration from to write a letter (though I´m sure nobody here needs that sort of inspiration), but please visit all the same: www.stopourshame.com.
