Much of what we don't understand about being human is simply in our heads. Even though science continues to give us ever increasing insights into what memory is, much of it remains a mystery.

I do find this very interesting. I have also read (Gill Edwards - Living Magically) that with the power of our minds we have the ability of changing our DNA. Have there been any studies on this subject? I am interested in anyone who has any comments on this topic. Many thanks...

I think a lot of us live by what influences us, and those either become stronholds or mindsets, which are repeated patterns of thinking that, eventually control us negatively or positively... and we come to believe in them...

It is entirely possible that humans do not just convince themselves of anything, but can be convinced of anything by peer pressure and the culture and belief system they exist within.

If humans operate in a environment in which all the other humans hold a similar or same viewpoint on any given subject, then it may not be possible for an individual human to actually accept any data that challenges the commonly held viewpoint, or conventional wisdom, regardless of whether that belief is rational or fits with actual reality.

The greatest example of this belief field is the concept of doubt or skepticism.

If a society does not believe that something exists, such as Big Foot, or UFO's, regardless of empirical data that may show such things do exist, then every individual that encounters a Bigfoot or a UFO will interpret the visual or auditory input as coming from something elase that the individual can believe in, such as a odd bear in the case of the Bigfoot, or a aircraft, in the case of the UFO.

It is entirely possible that a variety of odd and rare phenomena actually exist, but society as a whole ignores, because the conventional wisdom is given out that the odd or rare phenomena does not exist, or is something else more acceptable.

It could well be that Bigfoot is never discovered or any evidence appears to verify the existence of such an animal, because humans simply cannot perceive this thing as existing, and would face the scorn of Bill Mahr, Penn and Teller, or the Amazing Randy, or some other debunker.

This field of disbelief may well be a force holding back further advance of science and exploration of the
physical universe, since we have to believe something exists before we can properly perceive it to exist.

Its because people make up their minds and then find the facts to fit what they already believe instead of looking at the facts and then deciding what to believe.
