Three Makah grandmothers (pictured here) have made the 330 miles journey from their home to Portland, Oregon today. They walked and drove the distance to protest what they say is a continual violation of Native American treaty rights.

Jason Ruffin and Aaron Harrison, 2 members of the ILWU, were attacked by police last year without provocation as they returned to work from lunch. The two men were then arrested. A rally to support them will take place October 6 as their trial begins.

Providence Students for a Democratic Society stormed into a monthly board meeting of the Rhode Island Public Transit Authority Monday afternoon, causing the meeting to be adjourned early. They were there to protest route cuts and fare increases.

Through largely no fault of their own four hundred students at Tennessee State Univeristy (TSU) were sent packing this week for financial reasons. TSU is the only state-funded university in Tennessee that is a historically black school.

Public outcry and a weekend protest following the Thursday death of Stanley Harlan involving a Taser used by local police, led to heightened security at Tuesday night's Moberly City Council meeting. Another death in nearby Columbia has also drawn fire.

Stanley James William Harlan, 23, was given the death sentence for driving erraticly in Moberly, Missouri on Thursday. Harlan was hit with two bursts from a Taser by Moberly law enforcement. He died not long after at a nearby hospital.

Hundreds of thousands of Buddhists took to streets of Seoul yesterday in protest against the religious bias of President Lee Myung-bak and his administration. Buddhists from almost all orders - Jogye, Cheontae, Taego and Gwaneum were represented.
