It is hard to believe that a nation such as South Korea which is one of the major economic power (13th largest) and boasts the highest education level in the world is still committing this type of barbaric and inhumane atrocity in this day and age.

I am extremely distressed about the torture and consumption of animal companions in South Korea. Even though the government has established an Animal Protection Law, dogs are still electrocuted, hanged, and beaten to death by farmers and slaughters. Also, dogs and cats are still being tortured and boiled alive for so-called elixirs, which have no medicinal properties except in the minds of gullible customers. Until South Korea ends this appalling suffering, the country’s reputation in the international community will continue to suffer. Its citizens will face shame and embarrassment. And South Korea will continue to be regarded as “third world,” despite its glittering modernization and attempts at globalized thinking.

Why the South Koreans are such Barbarians still. Please the President of the country need to take some harsh decisions to protect the country's pathetic and evil low vermins grade. How can anyone eat their best loyal animal friends such as Cats & Dogs like that. They must be a total Morons and evil human beings. Shame on South Korea. Please who ever loves animals don't plan visiting South Korea in the respect of your own sanity.

Education and compassion do not necessarily go hand in hand. Look at Oxford and Cambridge Universities - two of the biggest offenders in animal experimentation.

It is hard to believe that a nation such as USA where people can fight for the right to have gun that can be used on kids can get the games!

Signed, thanks. God almighty i have tears running down my face. How can humans be this cruel? The torment our loving cat and dog companions face, only to be killed in such horrifying ways,at least shoot them so they go quickly for god's sake. Dog wine? I wish we ccould stop this cat&dog industry. How can we? This is an epidemic. I feel helpless. I'm not religious but i pray for these cats and dogs everyday.

Signed. The monsters will likely kill all the animals just before the olympics, so they can say, "Huh? No one is eating dogs or cats here...."- then resume the meat markets once the world stops paying attention.

It's really interesting. Dog and Cat are use in Anatomy and Physiology class and research. In additional, Alligator and snake are being skin and eaten by American. No American complaints.

In some Europe, Mexico and Latin America cultures, Horses are slaughter for human consumption.

If person are very poor without any money at hand, would person kill animal to sell in the market?

Understandable, some people living in poor condition or village will sell and kill dog or cat for feed a family. Person was trying to survive with a family of 4 or less to purchase food. Human need to be compassion for those very poor people.

Ioannes, please know that
1. we are protesting against dogs, cats and other for experimental use just the same! We also protest against horse slaughter just as strongly.
2. Alligators and snakes are NOT PETS, although it is just as wrong to eat them.
3. South Korea is NOT poor
4. Nobody will starve from going without meat when there is enough other, cheaper food!

thanks ... but I feel there's a double standard - no animal deserves to die to be on someone's plate ... pigs are smarter than dogs ... and look at how they're treated? ! - every county would need to be boycotted

So very signed, when will they realize that dogs and cats are companion animals that born to trust and love people. Sad part is that these poor babies have no idea till it's to late to run, because they ARE so trusting. Bad Karma to those who kill poor defenseless animals.
