I've tried to look at this objectively, but I still don't see the appeal - unless it's a matter of eating bugs, or starving. Maybe.

That would be awesome! When I was little, I read an article on eating bugs and have been interested in trying them out ever since. Especially since they remind me of shellfish, one of my favorite foods! I saw bug-pizza, chocolate covered bugs (no, seriously), frozen bug treats, fried crickets...

Once people get over the eww factor, we would start to see bugs (land-dwelling arthropods) as we do shellfish, octopus, and squid -- which are all from the same family as bugs. It's just that we're used to eating their water-dwelling relatives. :)
