They are an extremist cult ... this logo was actually taken from the NZ "branch". They are not allowed to converse with anyone who is not of the "family", no TV, no newspapers, no computers, no radio, no movies, no schooling other than their schools, daily bible reading, if someone chooses to leave they are shunned and no allowed access to family members left behind. http://www.theexclusivebrethren.com/ and

These people break the law by not allowing estranged parents to visit their children-despite court orders.
They are also hypocrites and lairs. They refuse to vote yet fund disembling, prejucdicial programmes against the Greens (Tasmania) and NZ Government..

Australia and NZ has the misfortune to be the home of 50% of the 40,000 ?or so worldwide.
.
They want their own schools to indoctrinate their children rather than educate them
They want these funded by Howard.who they support financially.
.
They are are very wealthy "church" that could put their resources to better, more humane and Christian use rather than refusing all contact with the rest of the world.

This is not Christianity it is a dangerous, authoritarian, controlling, evil sect.

Back in September 2006, John Howard was quoted as saying "The right of the Exclusive Brethren Christian sect to have "unorthodox" beliefs, including a refusal to vote, should be respected, Prime Minister John Howard said today.."

Considering that the law states that voting is mandatory and the likes of me would be fined for not voting, a bigoted statement don't you think? Maybe it was because " Third parties are required to disclose the following information to the AEC: donations made to political parties or candidates, donations they received and their expenditure over an election period on election advertising, campaign material, mail-outs, polling and research. Yet, we see that a group can spend hundreds of thousands of dollars in an election campaign without lodging any of the required forms with the AEC. An example is the Exclusive Brethren. This fundamental Christian church has influenced elections in Canada, the USA, New Zealand and Australia (see Australian Policy Online article) including an attack on the Australian Greens in the lead-up to the last Federal election. "

In this link you will find that the ads they took out during the Tasmanian elections against the greens, was actually billed to the Liberal party ... "a mistake .... "http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,21114111-2702,00.html

In this link it shows how much money ($2.4 million/year) is being given to their schools, while the public system struggles. Also talks about funds made to the Bush campaign and NZ

They have a different bible. it certainly must exclude good works and the Sermon on the mount.
I am not sure how they can call themselves Christians
We seem to be getting more and more of these fundamentalist sects and religions. very wealthy very powerful. Hillsong seems to control the NSW Liberal Party and Howard seems to be seeking these people out.

In latin toe 'educte means to "lead out" they certainly don't do this they "close in"
A exclusive brethren got a full scholarship to Tas Uni last yearand i believe there are a number of EB lecturing thre They are said to be strong in Tasmania. I don't know how they square that with their beliefs.

Their campaign against the Greens in the last election was devious,deceitful, sly and well funded.;
with no-one really knowing where the money/criticism was coming from. hardly charter traits you would like to see from Christaians

And as for putting a private detective on to the Prime Minister of NZ That is outrageous!
They don't want to be part of society fine let them go and live in caves; but they choose and show them selves as the self-serving, uncharitatble hypocrites they are.

BTW sorry to disillusion you Chrissy but both Labor and Liberal have "Trust" type structures that take big donations and then pass them on to the party anonymously. Google it it is horrifying.
AT least we know Governor Schwarzenegger was funded by Chevron Mobile as it is on public record.
But I would love to know what Howard is getting for the $60 million he gave Chevron Mobile in WA

"Strip Club" Rudd trying to blast-off some of the "heat" from his recent escapades "ha ha ha ha ha".....

How can you mis-manage a strip club?

Howard's overtaxing us 17 million is more mis-management to me especially when health education and welfare suffers.

I am told the Exclusive Brethren are being investigated by the Australian Fedral Police for electoral rorts

Michael, I am well aware of all parties taking "donations". but I do object that 1) they don't have to declare their donations to the Liberals, 2) that Herr Howard is not 'fessing up to what he talked to them about and 3) what gives them the right to not vote, because of it being their belief? You or i would not be able to claim non-voting because of belief and to be honest, I have always said, if you choose not to vote, you have NO right to complain about ANY Government.
As for Rudd and mis-management ... what mis-management? I do believe that one of Howards cronies also fessed up the next day, that he had been strip clubbing too. I agree Michael, how do you mis-manage a visit to a strip club?
How dare they be getting tax payers money, when they don't integrate with the tax payers?

any "secret" society has something to hide, by definition. and any group that has leaders tell it's member not to participate but then they themselves participate are the rottennest of all. grimmer wormtounges. You might be surprised, but people in “secret” societies like this and freemasonry place their members into important positions from judges right on down to vote counting volunteers. Check out what kennedy said about secret societies.

as for rud going to a stip club. it would bother me if it was taxpayers that payed for it. now, what i want to know is how many of the boys in parliament use to wank or still do (question time usually shows that they still “have their hand on it”). or how many of them use to pick their nose and eat it. hell, I bet they use to shit themselves and piss in their pants when they were babies. and on a more serious note, how many of them or anyothers are involved in child sexual abuse, here or in other countries. and that goes for secret societies as well.

if the righteousness of politicians is the big deal as to wether they are suitable or not then i can think of some REALl moral issues. like being involved in or supporting the killing and abuse of innocents in stupid thoughtless wars. or poisoning the planet for future generations for the sake of keeping their lifestyle now. or to keep building societies based on taking advantage of others.

the people on this planet need to grow up and really start being sensible.

Mis-managing a tittie bar visit is forgetting to tip the strippers. He musta not had enough tax dollars left after paying the entry fee.
I've never heard of the Exclusive Brethren group you mention so I can't really comment on that.
Just thought I would let you know what the mis-management of a titty bar was. Still noted

This is what I was replying to Michael and don't worry, I have no urge to 'beat you around the head' ha ha!
Re-read and I was agreeing with you 100% but adding my disgust at the system.

Thank you for posting this Chrissy. This one is close to home as the Exclusive Brethren have purchased a double block of land a few houses from where I reside. This building/church?? will be in the middle of suburbia and our protest groups, petitions and letters we sent /signed and sent to the appropriate parties have had no effect whatsoever to date. The problem will increase as the people living here have done so for 20+ years and state they will be selling up if the EB are given permission to do what they so chose. The selling of houses will then allow them even more area to expand. Howard is in dire straights with the upcoming election so he would allow all if it will help him remain Prime Minister. I am aware all political parties have many generous donors but for Howard to allow the no voting if part of their cult beliefs sounds odd and I for one would like to know why!!!! Duly noted.

Mary, I couldn't agree more, especially with the no voting thing. If you or I decided that we wouldn't vote, we'd be p for a $50 fine! You will be having an increase in traffic an as they study and praise every day ...... There was an article in our Sunday mail interviewing a family of the EB, saying how normal they were, but I have my doubts, as neither the wife nor the daughters were wearing the head scarf, so me thinks they were ring ins. The interview was done as a negative about Kevin Rudd, as some time back he praised them for what thy did for their children in their schools, but when you read it, it was because they had because they had received a grant for "wordex machines and computers" ... again something they do not believe in!!!! http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/story/0,23739,22346491-3102,00.html

Exclusive Brethren schools funding blow-out pressures Rudd and Iemma

Media Release: 21 January 2008

Both state and federal governments are ignoring Kevin Rudd's trenchant criticism of the Exclusive Brethren sect and continue to deliver massive subsidies to their schools that are closed to all children other than those from families within the cult, according to Greens NSW MP John Kaye.

Commenting on a story on page 4 of today's Sydney Morning Herald, Dr Kaye said: "In August last year Mr Rudd described the Exclusive Brethren as 'an extremist cult and sect'.

"He went on to say that 'there are real problems with the provision of modern education for kids under their system'.

"Exclusive Brethren schools around Australia are set to receive more than $10.1 million in federal funding this year. Subsidies from the Iemma government to their NSW schools will exceed $1.8 million.

"The Rudd government is snookered by the contradiction between its criticism of the massive amount of money going to schools run by the Exclusive Brethren sect and its promise to not change the Howard government's subsidies formula.

"Funding of the Brethren schools is growing at a massive rate. Our analysis shows that from $7.4 million in 2005, it is on track to blow out to $10.1 million in 2008. Over the next four year funding period from 2009 to 2013, we expect total funding to exceed $50 million.

"The Iemma government is also in deep denial over its continued funding of the sect's schools, which has grown by more than 87% in real terms over the last four years.

"Sooner or later someone in government has to have the honesty to say that there is something deeply wrong with public funding of schools that refuse to enrol children who are not members of the sect.

"Public money is being poured into schools that are closed and secretive.

"NSW Education Minister John Della Bosca and his Federal counterpart Julia Gillard are ignoring the well-found criticisms leveled at the school by their own leader. It is time they got their heads out of the sand and put an end to the funding of sects," Dr Kaye said.
