It's always best to wash your hands after handling a cat, ESPECIALLY if you're PREGNANT. Pregnant women should NEVER be around cat litter, at least that's what I've always heard.

back in the late 80s, I actually knew of a family who lost their son ... 7 years old ... to Toxo. the rs. had no idea at first what it was and when they ade an offhand suggestion that that was what it could be, the family insisted that they didn't even own a cat. turned out the Drs were right and the boy had contracted it through playing in the sandpit in the garden.
