how do you compensate for the loss of cultural heritage? Cultural heritage (knowledge) that extends back beyond written word?
Modern day "civilisation" is ensuring that only that of the "taker" cultural mentality continues to evolve.
The "great forgetting" continues... and the mentality of the money go round culture lives on and continues to thrive.
This is more than criminal.., this is the blatent destruction of humanity's historical culture.

a) fined the US equivalent of $1,000,000,000,

b) and required to spend a minimum of 10,000 hours performing manual labor to remove the offending structure,
c) in addition, the CEO and board personally apologize and ask forgiveness for their obscene actions.

Consuela, thank you for bringing their plight to the attention of care2. Do not apologise for posting for posting all these very relevant details. There are too many people world wide who have no idea what is happening to our indigenous people. Sadly, many of these people are Australian.

I hated what Herr Howard did with his "invasion" to the NT.

Sadly, I can think of 3 lots of friends, (one couple whom we love dearly), but they have no understanding of what is happening, nor do they care. 2 of the couples were friends of Jeffs' from school and they have never left where they have lived and have never met "real" aborigines. The only ones they "know" of are the 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, castes who live in the cities and are not a true representation of the culture. They are so prejudice, I am embarrassed by them at times.

Without causing a riot for indigenous causes and a flood of comment, the Aborogines have been fed welfare cheques from the government for years. They have nothing to do, they drink all day, and subsequently abuse their childern. It is a vicious circle, a no-win situation. The Aborigines need to get themselves out of this cycle, to find some self-esteem, pride, and a reason for living. Their own elders need to address this situation, and the government is equally culpable.

Just a quick reply. You cannot lump all Aborigines in the one parcel Pauline. Remember, after years of being ripped off by employers while working as maid/jackaroos/nannies etc., they didn't even get a vote until 1968. I find it ironic that the mention of welfare payments is always brought up by "us whites", but you also have to take note of how many non-aboriginals are on welfare. yes, the remote area Aboriginals get welfare, but as they are choosing to live on the land as their forefathers did, how aer they supposed to work ... and for that matter, where?
