Isn't there anyway to get water to them in their native habitat? I would think a large old bathtub in various eraes, filled with warer would help a lot. These little animals need water to survive, and it seems to me that some tubs in various areas of the outback where they are would help a lot.

The idea of them having water put into their habitat has never been a thought that was needed, as they usually get all their fluids from the gum leaves they eat ... never actually drink. However, one has to assume that the eucalypts are dropping more than their usual number of leaves, or as mentioned in the article, maybe the leaves haven't their usual amount of moisture.

Can't they plant eucalyptus trees and in the meantime bring in some tubs of water as Christine Eret suggested?? I LOVE KOALA BEARS!! I CAN'T BEAR TO THINK OF THEM BEING DEPRIVED OF WATER!! Thank you Chrissy, prayerfully noted.

Agree with the comments - this is a heart rending situation - but on just a pedantic note, please, they are NOT koala bears but koalas (marsupials).
