Oh my Goodness I was working with the SES when we had the last floods in 1988 and the BOM in Brisbane had no idea we were in trouble down the Gold Coast until I rang them at 9am after manning phones all night and then I asked ME for a weather report...their radar wasn't showing anything.........hope they have it up to date now as we live in a previous flood plain now and our backyard is soaking wet...Even our 12 week old puppy has to have a bath after being outside for her toileting...maybe I should pack a bag ready. I have been watching the new weather site the past week which gives you an update of your own area by postcode...

Queenslanders facing floods urged to remain alert
Saturday January 5, 2008 - 23:17 EDT

Flood peaks are expected tomorrow in the Logan and Albert rivers south of Brisbane. - ABC
Emergency Management Queensland (EMQ) says residents of southern Queensland in areas that might be affected by flooding tomorrow should be preparing now.

Flood peaks are expected tomorrow in the Logan and Albert rivers south of Brisbane and in the Warwick district to the south-west.

EMQ regional director Eddie Bennett says some residents are already being officially advised they might have to evacuate their homes tomorrow but all residents in affected areas should be on alert.

"First of all seek some information; make contact with your council, check the weather warnings, listen to the media and what's being said there," he said.

"All the indications are that we will experience some significant or quite major flooding in some areas tomorrow.

"There are still some variables there in how that may pan out but certainly at this point in time people need to be aware of what the potential is."

On the Albert River, floodwaters are expected to peak at about nine metres in the Wolfdene areatonight.

On the Logan River, authorities are bracing for major flooding if the river peaks at 16 metres at Maclean Bridge tomorrow morning.

The Logan River at Waterford is also expected to peak at about 8.5 metres tomorrow morning.

The flood threat has eased at Warwick south-west of Brisbane tonight with the Condamine River peaking at just below six metres.

Authorities were prepared for local flooding if the river reached a predicted peak of between six and seven metres, but it did not happen.

This is the site we use, direct from the BOM ... pick your area and when the radar loads, you can have it as either have it static or have it "looping" and it reloads every 10 mins except for brisbane where it is every 6 minutes.
