Annie Novak and Ben Flanner have been farming the rooftop of a Brooklyn warehouse for a month and a half now. The 6,000 square-foot farm has over 30 different varieties of vegetables. Nearby restaurants have caught on to the idea.

Great idea. They don't have to worry about deer ,rabbits,groundhogs and voles munching the produce either!

Thanks, Erik, for this uplifting post! Absoloutely awesome ... talking about creative use of wasted space !!! We need more of these and actually should grow plants and trees on every rooftop of the world ... would this provide us with so much needed oxygen?

I just saw a special on one of the green planet TV stations where they have been doing this in Chicago now for a while. It seems to be working to reduce temps in the buildings. What a wonderful way to use those roof tops.
