Let me say this as plainly as I can. By August 31, 2010, our combat mission in Iraq will end. We will retain a transitional force to carry out three distinct functions: training, equipping and advising Iraqi Security Forces as long as they remain non-sect

The military troops are combat troops, doesn't really matter what we call them. As long as we are there people are in harm's way.

I have a son in the Army who is only 20 and most likely will be deployed in November if he reenlists. This war needs to end today.

Let the Iraqis have their own government. Arab nations do not want Western democracy.

The Iraqis have been training now for about 5 years for combat. They can't be that stupid! Our soldiers get 6 weeks to 3 months of training. The Iraqis know how to fight, they've been in several wars including a 10-year one with Iran. Keeping our soldiers there for "training" them is a hollow excuse. We want our kids home now, and we want our money to stop being squandered in Iraq too. We have projects right here that need doing. Why are people squawking about the "stimulus" package to help Americans but no one is squawking about the trillions of our tax dollars being squandered in Iraq, rebuilding their infrastructure, while our own infrastructure is crumbling at our feet?

Sorry Blue...

Obama has made promises to get our troops out of Iraq and he can call it Bush's war until August 31, 2010... after that date it becomes Obama's war and it will be Obama's war until all of our troops come home!

Obama is the President now... he won and he has until August 31, 2010 to clean up the mess Bush made!

After that date he will not have any excuse for breaking his campaign promises!

Mary B., I pray for your son. I found out by phone last week, that one of my former students who enlisted in the Marines in June, is now at Camp Lejeune, NC., and will be deployed to Afganistan in November...I pray for protection for these soldiers, and that they come home. Orders are not to Iraq...but Afganistan. It's usually a 6-8 deployment, so there ya go. I wish I could be more positive about it...but I'm not. Peace is the way, not WAR!
