Targeting: Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar

Started by: Endangered Species Coalition

Time is running out to save the polar bear and other endangered species. As their sea ice habitat disappears, polar bears are starving and drowning, and mothers and cubs are dying as their snow dens collapse on them due to a warming climate. In addition, pollution from oil and gas drilling threatens to destroy what's left of the polar bear's disappearing habitat.

In their last days, the Bush Administration weakened protections for the polar bear and other endangered species. We have a few weeks to restore their protections under the Endangered Species Act.

Congress passed a bill that gives the Obama administration 60 days to overturn the Bush administration's regulations that weakened the Endangered Species Act and eliminated essential protections for the polar bear. Secretary of Interior Ken Salazar must take this critically important step to restore scientific integrity at the Department of Interior.

The fate of the polar bears and other endangered species relies on their Endangered Species Act protections being restored. Please sign the petition to Secretary Salazar to save the polar bear and other endangered species.

This campaign ends on May 08.

Please restore protections for the polar bear and other endangered species

Dear Secretary Salazar,

Thank you for your commitment to protect our environment and to reestablish scientific integrity in the Department of Interior. I urge you to act immediately to restore protections for the polar bear and other endangered species.

I strongly oppose the Bush administration's regulations that weaken Endangered Species Act and eliminate essential protections for the polar bear. Please overturn the regulations under Section 7 and Section 4(d) of the Endangered Species Act, which reduce protections for polar bears, remove scientific consultations, and ignore global warming as a threat to our nation's wildlife.

I urge you to revoke these regulations immediately, within the 60-day window provided by Congress for their removal. Please take this critically important step in restoring scientific integrity at the Department of Interior.

The Endangered Species Act is a safety net for our nation's wildlife, fish and plants on the brink of extinction. Please restore protections for the polar bear and other endangered species.

Salazar has got the blood of many wildlife animals on his hand and I told him so. I am so angry that our voices aren't being heard. He needs to resign or step down. He is the worst Interior Secretary the US has ever had.
