The Environmental Protection Agency is preparing to issue its findings on climate change. Focusing on the role automobiles play in producing greenhouse gases, the agency, however, ignores the fact that animal agriculture is one of the biggest culprits!

The EPA: Missing the Point on Climate Change

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is preparing to issue its findings on climate change. Focusing on the role automobiles play in producing greenhouse gases, the agency, however, ignores the fact that animal agriculture is one of the biggest culprits! Tell the EPA to wise up.

Tell the EPA that the animal agriculture industry is a bigger threat to the global ecosystem than every automobile on the planet combined.

Docket ID No. EPA-HQ-OAR-2009-0171

Dear [Decision Maker],

I am pleased to see that the EPA will formally acknowledge the threat that greenhouse gasses pose to public health and the welfare of our planet. However, it is unacceptable to focus solely on automobile traffic while completely ignoring the role of a more serious polluter: animal agriculture. According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, livestock raised for food create substantially more greenhouse gas than the entire transportation sector, about 18 percent of total anthropogenic emissions, compared to 13 percent for all of the automobiles in the world.

President Obama has said, "climate change is a clear and present danger to our world that demands immediate attention." But how can we hope to defend our world against this imminent danger while ignoring one of its main causes? Leaving animal agriculture out of the global warming equation would be a fatal mistake.

Therefore, I strongly urge you recognize, as the UN and others have done, that animal agriculture does indeed warrant serious attention, and it deserves to be named as a major concern in your findings. Only then can we proceed to find real solutions to the problem of climate change.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Noted and was pleased to be able to sign petition. There is currently a brilliant ad on SBS (our multicultural tv channel) showing the 'pie chart' on how agriculture is contributing such a huge chunk of global pollution.

"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

"So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."

"And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth."

It's a known fact that animal agriculture produces more greenhouse gases. I also signed. Action taken.

Of course, what none of you will recognize is that it is getting bloody cold....cow farts can't save us from what looks like a 20-30 year cool period.

"Nearly ten years into the 21 century it is clear that the UN IPCC computer models have gone badly astray. The IPCC models have predicted a one degree increase in global temperature by 2011 with further large temperature rises to 2100. Yet there has been no warming since 1998 with a one degree cooling this year being the largest global temperature change ever recorded. Nasa satellite imagery from the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California has confirmed that the Pacific Ocean has switched from the warm mode it has been in since 1977 to its cool mode, similar to that of the 1945-1977 global cooling period.
