Instead of seeing older workers staying on the job longer as the economy has worsened, the Social Security system is reporting a major surge in early retirement claims that could have implications for the financial security of millions of baby boomers.

It was found many years ago that the longer ou tool to retire, the shorter you lived after retirement! Anyhow, if all the "oldies" retired at a 'sensible" age, there would be more work available for the younger generations and the "oldies" could enjoy their Golden years.

Again, as noted, the older widow gets hit the hardest. In native cultures this would not happen, however in our society, once the male spouse dies not only do you grieve but your whole world falls apart too. This system is a kick you while your down. No one understands what the widow must endure, it is a silent tragedy.
