As part of the economic stimulus package, the federal government boosted tax credits to homeowners who switch to solar power. With state incentives, these subsidies could slash the cost of some systems in California by 50% or more.

Thanks Tom. Interestingly in Granite Bay California they are being stolen almost as soon as they are being installed. Sign of the times maybe or shrewd business people installing them and then stealing them in the night?

Where I live here in San Diego, there are more and more people installing Solar Panels, in fact, a couple of years ago I did check into it as a large piece of the property faces West and gets all of that afternoon sun. Yep, they do offer tax credits and FOR SURE IT would be the way to go!

If you are planning on staying in your home and have an area that will be perfect for the Solar panels, by all means, DO IT!!! If you are a short term homeowner, then it probably wouldn't benefit the out going expense, but then again, you do have to look at it another way...YOU WILL BE CREATING A BENEFIT TO THE NEXT OWNER AND YOUR RESALE VALUE WILL BE GOING UP. ESPECIALLY IN TODAYS HOT WEATHER AND WARMING TRENDS.

You will no longer be paying for most of what electricity you use, instead, you will be using what you get directly from GOD's SUN. Not damaging the air quality...I think that this is such a super idea, personally, I will be contacting the BBB in my area to find someone who has done some of the panels around here and talk to the neighbors that have had it done! FOR SURE I KNOW THEY ARE HAPPY WITH IT.

Didn't know prices had gone down, in today's bad economy this just may be the right time to take advantage of what needs to be done to save our air, planet, etc. Great story Tom, thanks....

It's great the prices are falling as I was given a quote of over $30,000 a few years ago. More people would jump on it if the cost had not been so prohibitive
