Rex Rammell, 2010 candidate for Idaho governor, "joked" about hunting and killing President Obama. During a wolf hunting discussion at a Republican party event, someone asked about "Obama tags." Rammell responded: "The Obama tags? We'd buy some of those."

People are going to have to start taking these "haters" to task for their sick so called jokes. They are seriously putting the President in danger. I hope this idiot is investigated to the max and has his feet put to the fire. You can't fix stupid but you can make them accountable. Thanks Tom

Must agree with BKH here. Satire is one thing but this is out of bounds, like in the next galaxy. Thanks Tom.

Ditto and I hope Care 2 lets me give BKH a green star. I seem to want to star the same people over and over again.

Do you not have a law in the US that ANY threat to a President/President-elect is treated as a crime?

Thanks for all your comments!

I think Obama has been amazingly tolerant of all the crazies packing guns hanging around outside his town hall venues. Bush put protesters in cages, I mean, "free speech zones", blocks away from where he was appearing. His town hall meetings were carefully screened and orchestrated to keep potential "hostiles" like Democrats and liberals out. I think it's good that Obama, who is a Constitutional scholar, defends people's rights to free speech and to bear arms, but with so many right wing terrorist nutjobs running around shooting people they don't agree with like Dr. George Tiller, I worry about his safety. I think he needs to be more careful. I put this story under Offbeat because Rex Rammell doesn't belong anywhere else, especially under US Politics & Gov't. He sounds to me like a male Sarah Palin. This remark about hunting the President must rank as the most crass mouthing from a politician I've everseen reported and even his party has distanced themselve from it to their credit. What more can you say about a trigger happy section of society?

Isn't that something that Homeland security should be investigating and arresting these guys for threats against our President?
