Would You Pay $39.95 for a Light Bulb?

Didn't think so. But what if it used 90% less electricity than a standard incandescent bulb, cut greenhouse gas emissions and saved you an estimated $280 over its 25-year lifespan? That's the challenge facing Dutch start-up Lemnis Lighting today.

Yes, I would pay for it if it saves electricity and cut greenhouse gas emissions but what about the life span of the bulb?

I'd like it to be brighter than 60W, though.

Fact is, I never ever thought I would pay 8 to 10 dollars for a light bulb either, back in the day! Having experienced those bulbs and their lifespan means I'm more likely to believe the claims of this particular bulb, BUT it better not be phony and rip us off, OR ELSE they will suffer drastically from all the consumers wanting to do the right thing for our world!

Thanks Tom......my answer..........it depends on the alternatives and what I need the bulb for. We already know LED lights are pretty dependable.....they're the last thing to go (if they ever do) on electronic equipment. Chances are if they don't last, they were manufactured with a defect. Given the present day alternatives, I would pay $40 for them. But at that price, you would probably take them with you if you planned to move or take out a new mortgage to replace them in your new home. ha!

NO, but the price will come down drastically, look at led Christmas lights.
In a few years they will be free with a magazine subscription.

Id like to see it in a 75 or 100 watt version, instead of 60 watts but thats how the compact flourescents first came out limited to 60 watt bulbs and now they have 75 and 100 plus watt equivalants.

I might consider it but, if it is manufactured in China, then, my answer would be a no.

If I were younger, between the ages of 25-45 and not made in China, it might be worthwhile.

TY, Tom.
