Must be those lazy polar bears lounging around their campfires and barbaques that is melting the ice. They sent out invitations, but their friends are swimming about sixty miles out to sea and hopes are low that they make it to the party as they will likely drown.

Brrrr It has been in the 60s for the past week in Kansas City
The past 4 summers have been cooler (much) than past averages.
Pollution is not all carbon....Chemical reactions from run off, etc.... produce hidden reactions beyond visibility. Still it couldn't hurt to ground Gore's jet.

This is a clear & present danger created by global warming [climate change, if that makes you feel better], including mankind's lifestyle contributions. Yet, we have a GOP V.P. nominee who believes "global warming is a hoax" not unlike Sen. Imhoff [R-OKlahoma] and others whose heads are positioned......where...? It will be interesting to see how much "the tail wags the dog" as McChristian seeks to cowtow for the evangelical rightist votes & blinds himself daily to what the new/now McCain becomes when compared to himself in 2000 & before. Creationism is an insult in any form or spinoff which must be met head-on: this is a fight for America, folks!

Sarah Palin better do everything she can to help McCain win or she's going to have to pull her house out of the swamp the permafrost left behind when the global warming she doesn't believe in melts the ice in Wasilla.

Couldn't hurt to ground Cindy McCain's jet, either. At least Gore is using his to get out the word on global warming. Cindy's using hers because it's 'the only way to get around Arizona'.

Top scientists are now saying that global warming is being caused in part by human activity. Whether it is man-made or not, everyone except Sarah Palin now seems to agree that global warming exists and is a potential threat to all life on our planet. Debating the causes of global warming is like rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic. I think we need to focus on what, if anything, we are going to do about it. If you were diagnosed with diabetes and your doctor told you he had no doubt it was partially caused by your eating habits, would you tell him he is contributing to the diabetes hoax and eat another candy bar?

Big Oil is trying to sell the public the idea that man-made carbon emissions don't contribute to global warming. This is understandable - they are in business to sell oil. They have reaped record profits by artificially holding back production, and to add insult to injury, now expect to be rewarded for their greed by being allowed to drill in protected coastal environments and in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. They have run an effective advertising campaign, using our elected politicians as their spokesmen. They even have a website (http://www.anwr.org/) touting their success in corrupting and manipulating us into doing their bidding. This is shameful.

What's good for their business is bad for our health. Our "doctors," the top scientists who study global warming, have warned us that if we continue to burn fossil fuels like gasoline, we are contributing to our own destruction. We need to elect more representatives who support alternative eco-friendly renewable energy resources like wind and solar power and who believe protecting our planet and all of it's inhabitants is more important than protecting their campaign-donors' profits and their own jobs.

It is her own ignorance of the state of the state of Alaska that I hope will shut her out for good. I am ashamed she is a reprentative of my state, and I hope she gets revealed for what she really is...a disgrace to the human race. Grrrr..

Not sure what you mean Arden? We have to fight Creationism? Do you mean that all this rubbish that is being foisted on us about survival of the fittest is the only way to go?
At this time, survival of the fittest as being presented by the Evolution School, is what is causing most of our world problems. We humans are more fit than the polar bears and any other animal or species on the face of the earth. Well, that is what the survival of the fittest would have us believe.
On the other hand we have those who supposedly believe in Creationism. Well for them, Creationism is a coverup for their real belief of "Survival of the fittest" which they would have us believe is not their real intention. Seduction of the masses is their real intention for the purpose of rulership. They treat us like mushrooms, keep us in the dark and feed us on a heap of b/s coz that makes mushrooms grow real well.
Survival of the fittest/evolution is no better because it does the same thing. Pure Creationism is about respecting the fact that there is a Creator and He also gives us the instructions on how to look after the environment and that we are accounted responsible. He also reminds us that there are two ways of operating and the final results for each direction. Because we do not want to accept His personal directions, because that means we are subject to Him, we choose the other way which He has warned us leads to destruction.
He is NOT being dogmatic about the results. One way leads to everything running correctly while the other leads to destruction.
Well!!!! We chose to forget His Claims on our lives and now we want to get rid of Him to try and calm our consciences. Sorry, the information is there for all to read for themselves without being hoodwinked by the socalled religious right.

Many thinking people are turning to the Bible and finding that it really tells a whole different story to what we are being fed when we do not study it for ourselves. The big warning is this. VERY SOON YOUR BIBLES WILL BE EITHER SO MUTILATED OR TOTALLY REMOVED that you will not be able to find real truth to check out what is really happening and this will be done by socalled "religious" leaders AND those who want to push the Evolutionary concept.

We may want to get rid of the Creator, but, we will only be fooling ourselves. Everything in this world had or has a designer and creator. If the book of instructions is NOT followed, who is to blame? Those who want their own way but are not prepared to accept that they will face a day of accounting are fooling themselves and others. We all will face that situation one day whether we believe it or not, Even those who are destroying our ecology and the world. So which side are you on? Are you only prepared to mouth the half truths of the manipulators or will you get down to the reality? We need to be accountable TODAY in how we personally treat the environment.
My suggestion is to worship THE Creator of the environment and respect His instructions because He knows how it should be operated. You may just find that how you feel it should be done is very close to the Creator's instructions only everyone has been so fooled by the enemy's lies that they find it difficult to determine which is truth or which is fiction.
Study it without any preconceived ideas and you will find a vastly different story to the crapp being toted by much of religionistic hierachy and their bedfellows, the evolutionists.
Sorry and apologies if this sounds too forthright, but I am not changing it. The evidence is all too strong and OUR pack of cards are falling around us and WE??? want to get rid of the Creator???
YES, MARION, AFTER THE POLAR BEARS, MAN. The Creator will call him to face his actions and unbelief and sooner than you think. Biblical Prophecy is falling into place so very fast but not what is generally being accepted as supposed truth which is only a misinterpretation proposed to cover the butts of the guilty and misinform everyone so that they are looking for something that will not happen while the real situation takes place and folks will be saying,"WHY WASN'T I TOLD?"

From the beginning of the human speices ability to "create" religion...all religious organizations, there has been nothing but bloodshed and the struggle for power in one form or another. Their are thousands of faith based religions that each have claimed to be the true religon in one form or another. And after all these years not a single one has had the selfless courage to step up to the plate and admit that the world will suffer if we all do not learn to get along.
You will have people from every religion running to their version of the bible each pleading and demanding others to listen to their one and only truth before we all die and the world is destroyed.
Yet not a one has ever stepped up and admitted that itis their need, their greed for power, money and control has served no other purpose but their own and those that are "like thinkers and believers". This what organized religion has gotten the human race.
What one religion or faith has, it strives to rob others of what they have. This is what religion gets you. And what of our planet, our Mother Earth? Forgotten...
Now that reality is slapping the human species in the face, what has religion done? Same thing, different day. Each demanding that others follow them and only them. Not one thing has changed. Still using a God as their weapon to use over the heads of everyone that does not believe as they do. Nothing changes. And again...where is Mother Earth and the care and concern for all other living creatures who have suffered so much at the hand of the human species?
When the human species can stop using God as their weapon, and the Bible as their cookbook through their personal interpretation, stop coveting the almighty dollar, power, greed and the killing off all other living creatures....that is when global warming..and healing the planet will begin.

Ice shelves are formed by glaciers growing into water. They are subject to wind and tide changes beside just the effect of warming water. When they do break off it is called calving and is quite natural That's what makes icebergs.

The only difference between now and earlier warming periods, since they happen every 65-80 years, is that this time there are helicopters filled with media taking pictures so we can mourn every icecube.

Well Shawn, you may be surprised when I say that what you are saying is exactly what "religion" is all about. You hit the nail on the head and it is good to see that you can see through the whole gammut of false religion. Unfortunately, I doubt you know much about Jesus, the Real Christ, What Creation is all about, What happened to Adam and Eve and the lies that were promulgated to them for the introduction of sin into this world.
When all the "religious" crapp, including the religion of evolution, is put aside and one honestly seeks for truth, (yes, no one has a lock on it as one is always learning) you will find that practically ALL religion is against Pure Christianity as portrayed by the Bible and I did not say organised religion, you will find a totally different perspective.
What I was saying about the religious right is the same as you do so we are in agreement on that. Thankyou for the compliment.
When i went to school (long time ago) I hated history and it was my worst subject. One of the things we were taught about was the Crusades and how they were so wonderful. What a load of crapp. the people who were slaughtered were not the supposed opposition but the two supposed opposing forces actually slaughtered anyone who wanted to follow the Bible with a clear conscience. One of the admonitions was to feed the orphans and care for the widows and generally treat your fellow man as you would want to him to treat you. I found that Bible Prophecy and history have this uncanny partnership and so history became a better subject for me and actually I enjoyed it after that. There is true history and false history and when one investigates it fully it stands out that religion has murdered over 120 million of those who opposed it or just wanted freedom of religion to believe as their consciences led them to be true to their fellow man and the environment.
In the lust for power, Christianity was usurped by those who wanted power over the people and today there is much in some organised religions which has not changed.
Charles Darwin hated Christianity because of what he heard preached. His father was a preacher and this particular day he was expounding on the necessity of little children being Christened (supposed baptism). It was stated that IF the little ones were not "baptised" and they happened to die, they would have to go through the fires of hell or hades or whatever they call it, and there was this smiling god who would be ready to receive them into heaven when they had all the sin burnt out of them. Well, I am not sure how you would have felt about that sort of a belief, but I am right behind Charles in getting out of a church which would preach such a horrendous thing. That is only one of many awful "beliefs" of so called Christianity. BUT it is NOT Christianity, that is what the pagans were doing and teaching. They wanted to appease an angry god. Some pagan religions were even prepared to sacrifice their own children to their so called deity. In the Old Testament you may read of the Children of Israel wiping these people out completely, men women and children. that was the only way to stamp out this horrendous practice.
I am here to tell you that these beliefs are totally anti Biblical. For people to make a decision to be baptised (immersed and not sprinkled which is a pagan belief and action) one needs to be old enough to make an intelligent decision without any coersion and pushing one into doing something that they do not believe. Christening children is choosing and forcing something onto a child when they have NO concept of what it is all about. That is unfair to the child. It is also the pagan way.
Like Charles, I want nothing to do with a God like that. Because of the presentation of false doctrines, many have come to believe that the Bible is false whereas it is these false things brought into Christianity that are horrendous and unpalatable to any thinking person like yourself. My plea is, do not throw the baby out with the muddy bathwater, muddy beliefs that do not show a loving God who gave His own Son to take the place of us sinners.
If you read again what I wrote in the previous note, I stated about those using Christianity as a cloak. I see that you recognise this is fact but unfortunately I feel that you are reading this with some sort of understanding that this apostate christianity religion is what it is supposed to be all about. You are right, it is horrendous, BUT it is NOT about Christ. It is the work of his nasty enemy but supposed to be a picture of God. Actually, when you drop off the crapp of religion that is forced onto us by this false christianity and read the Bible in reality, you will find it appears pornographic, hate filled, murderous.
God did not with hold anything from us and it was ALL recorded so we can see that it is NOT God's way of doing things. To go that other road is a natural slide to disaster.
As I said before, from my reading of the comments from my C2NN commentors, IF you could all read the Bible without coming with preconcieved ideas and asked this God to help you to understand what He has had written there, then get out and get off the butt and tell everyone the real truth instead of all this falsehood, You would more than likely be persecuted for your pains by all those religionists who only want power over people.
They will have to face the Judgement because of their own particular breed of falsehood and misuse of God's Holy Word. To a point, I agree with much of what you are saying so keep studying, get rid of the crapp and just maybe, we will be standing side by side and encouraging each other to strive for even higher standards.
We are all to answer for our own particular use or abuse of the environment. God says so and it is not to be used as some sort of baseball bat to slug others with. We need to look in the mirror and see who needs to be changed first and it isn't the other person, its US.
Seek the Blessing of THE Loving God and not get mixed up with the falsity of the religionists. Ask His guidance and find that that horrible creature that Charles's father was preaching about DOES NOT EXIST. His enemy does and tries to portray God as having his own evil personality and character.
God will call a finish to all this horror when everyone has had opportunity to make their own decision as to who they wish to follow. I have to make my decision without anyone telling me which way I have to go. I am obligated to make an intelligent decision by studying the facts of the situation, not by just listening to someone else's opinion. I will be judged on what I had opportunity to learn and also what I did with that knowledge. My actions and beliefs will determine my future in accordance with the Faith i have in the Creator, just the same as everyone else. As a matter of fact, God doesn't even have to make the decision about me. I rise or fall on my own life and what i did with it in accordance with His Blue Print. No one will be able to blame anyone else or to even point the finger at someone else.
If I should think to demand an answer as to why someone else receives eternal life and I might not have, I will be referred to the record of my own life and i alone will be accountable for what i did and believed.
Whatever my outcome will depend on whether I choose to follow Jesus The Christ or to go my own way and do my own thing and disregard the rights of others. The Ten
commandments are the judging authority and there will be NO call for a retrial.
All sins that are asked forgiveness for will be taken by Christ and He bore the punishment for them to let me go free, providing I turn away from sinning and shun it as the plague.
If I should desire to return to doing evil and then to justify (thats quite political isn't it?) my wrong doing, then I shall suffer the consequences of my actions. That is pretty fair and I do not think anyone else would want it any other way.
I will not bore you with any further comment on this at this time except to say that God loves everyone of you whether you realise it or not. HE wants everyone to make their own choice but would like for that choice to be to follow Him. He does NOT force us in any way but pleads with us to give him our hearts. Well, I don't really want to get involved in this kind of debate but I just want to point out that Darwin didn't HATE God and Christianity. And if so, it wouldn't be because of his father. He became agnostic quite later in his life and came to this state of mind because he found it more parsimonious to think that life evolved from other organisms rather than being created all at once by an omniscient and omnipotent being. What are you doing about the 'Greenhouse Effect'? Do you own an oversized SUV? Do you have more than two children by choice? Do you eat meat three meals a day? Do you worship celebrities such as John Travolta who travel by private jumbo jet?

We can buy electric cars. I have no children, and plan on one child and adoption. I have contacted CitizenRe about installing solar power on my home. This year I spent fifteen hundred installing solar reflective windows.

Tasmania's Beautiful Aboriginal people were destroyed and obliterated by "religious" folks who believed that these people were much lower on the scale of humanity and that they were only a little above the level of animals. What these "religious" people believed was a mixture of what they "thought" the Bible had to say (misinformation) and what the survival of the fittest is really all about.
Aboriginal Lore, an unwritten code but taught to the young men at initiation, stated that rape must be dealt with by spearing. White men who had this belief that they had superiority and therefore the "right" to have sex with the beautiful young women whether she agreed or not went ahead and did their thing. When the Elders of the tribes determined who the guilty party was, they carried out their "Lore". White man then totally forgot that their own "sins" were the cause of the problem, set about retaliatory action and destroyed those that opposed their evil way of life. The 10 Commandments stated in the seventh Commandment
THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY. the men were not married to these dark skinned ladies but chose to use forced sex on them. We can make all the excuses we like as to why they did this but like the Aboriginal laws, it was not to be done, full stop.
Religious leaders who were supposed to uphold this 7th commandment were happy to bless both the breaking of the 7th Commandment and then to encourage the breaking of the 6th Commandment to slaughter these people. That is what I refer to as "using Christianity as a cloak" It is false and certainly NOT representative of what the Bible says is the way we need to treat our fellow man.
Evolution espouses that we have come from slime in a preposterous and impossible line of events over millions or even billions of years. Everything has evolved and to survive, one animal MUST kill others to protect itself and to provide itself food. (Even animals only kill to survive) but we humans (at the top of the evolutionary scale) choose what we think is the best for our survival. Murder anything that gets in our way.
The Bible gives us a different perspective. Humanity is responsible for looking after the earth, the creatures and were even given information on how to use agriculture in the best way to keep the earth producing the best.
Along comes this other theory of survival of the fittest and destroys the better method. Nothing has changed the sinful greedy nature of man. Real Religion has been infiltrated with all this other stuff and degradation sets in. Who do we blame?? GOD. Nothing seems to change and nothing but the Love of God will ever change the heart of man.
We are suffering, the Polar Bears are suffering, the ice shelfs are disintegrating, people are dying for lack of food. Now someone wants to get rid of the woolves, WHY??? Because they refuse to follow the plan set out by the Creator, or maybe, it is just the process of Evolution going its survival of the fittest course. of course. What is everyone complaining about?
Either the Creator made us with freedom of choice and we have chosen wrongly or we have evolved and the way we are is something that can't really be changed.
Only when the Love of God, rightly considered, is able to change the heart of a man or woman to do the right thing correctly. That old saying "Hear no evil, see no evil and DO no evil" is really quite pertinent but it does NOT come into the basis of evolution except by being supposedly infused. We choose our destiny by our works and ability to determine right from wrong. Salvation is only given by the Creator NOT some Church who wants power over the people and threatens them with all sorts of horrible things IF they don't do as they are told. THAT is what started Charles to turn away from Religion. I would have too if I did not find out for myself what the reality really was. I still stand by Charles Darwin when he says that this Tyrant of a God DOES NOT EXIST. A Loving one DOES.
Global warming and all the other problems we face are caused by Greedy and overbearing folks who ultimately believe in the survival of the fittest whether they choose to use a mongrellised religion (mixture of Bible, Eastern Religion and evolution) or not and to spout that they are "christians". By their fruits shall you know them. When good men do nothing, Evil will always prevail.
To start saying how good I might be or what I do or do not do will only set myself up as a fool when I occasionally do the wrong thing. I can encourage others to so the right thing but I have NO jurisdiction to tell others that they have to follow what I believe. I can only encourage others to study for themselves to find real truth.

Robert, that's exactly what I was saying when I pointed out that you misinterpret evolutionary theory. When you say "but we humans (at the top of the evolutionary scale)" you are referring to an outdated vision of evolution called scala naturae and going back as far as Aristotle. No evolutionist sees humans at the top of any scale since there are no scale. And when you say that evolution is partly responsible for some sins, you mix evolutionary theory with social darwinism, which is a complete different matter. It's like accusing modern physics of being bad and false because of the nuclear bomb, or gravitational theory of causing kids to throw dimes from the Empire State building.

As you said, these people committed crimes because "of what they "thought" the Bible had to say (misinformation)". But the second part of your sentence is false. It's not because of "what the survival of the fittest is really all about" but what they "thought" it was about. They misinterpreted both the Bible and Darwin. You may be trying to fix the first, but you are still wrong about the second.

By the way, linking evolution only to murderous instincts is another false assumption. If it does predict harsh competition, it also predicts cooperation for the same purposes and it also explains the origin of the very capacity to have moral judgments.

But this discussion belongs elsewhere. So I'll put it to a rest.
