IT IS UNTHINKABLE that anyone from any political party would try to block our servicemembers and wounded veterans from voting, but a new lawsuit in Ohio is threatening to do just that. Ohioans are allowed by law to register to vote and cast an absentee

"Thank you for signing the petition!"

Here we go again...brought to us by the SAME state of Ohio that helped rig the stolen elections for Bush in 2000 and 2004. Thank you, Maryann.

As an Ohioan, I researched this story further because it effects my state. Our Secretary of State, the person who presides over the elections in the State of Ohio, who is a Democrat is being challanged by Republicans for allowing the voter registration deadline and the beginning of absentee ballot voting to overlap. The Republicans are challenging the "same-day" register and vote process that this has created. Also, the Secretary of State has agreed to let the counties with the highest populations ie. those containing Cleveland, Columbus,Cincinnati, etc, to extend voting hours. This is mostly due in part because in November 2004, people were still casting ballots in these cities after 11 PM but the former Secretary of State had already called the election...in favor of Bush. A second lawsuit has been filed by the Democrats basically supporting the current Secretary of State for her decisions regarding voting for the November 2008 General Election. The Ohio State Supreme Court is to review these cases as of Monday according to information I was able to find in the Columbus Dispatch newspaper. I have signed the petition. Thanks Maryann for submitting this story. By the way, has anyone noticed that when the media is all caught up in covering a "crisis" the current administration and his cronies pull stunts while the news media is preoccupied. Hmmm...was it really a crisis?

Robert...Excellent!! Thank you so much for this information. These 'stunts' have been occurring under our noses for years. Because so many are now engaged in the process, these corrupt activities stand out like a sore thumb.

This 'crisis' really is a crisis. The question is, why did they wait until now to deal with it and try to rush the bailout through...that they caused? The bailout is a controlled demolition just like the 1929 stock market crash and subsequent Depression. The difference is that now there is even more corruption than ever, more Americans at risk and no Franklin Roosevelt with a New Deal to help us through this catastrophe.

Thanks again, Robert.

It is ridiculous to tell former members of the military that they cannot vote. If anything, their vote should count twice! I can't believe they even tried this stunt, although I live in the capital of stunts, Texas! Thanks for bringing this to our attention,Maryann!

Thank you so much Robert for the information. Thank you all for commenting and signing! I think this is just unbelievable, that they would try to do this to the vets. So much for patriotism, I find it is usually in short order when it comes to how our government treats our vets!

When you are all done signing here, check out Black Box Voting, please. They are looking for volunteers to watch and record the counting of the ballots in all states in all districts to be sure that this election is fair. You will find good information, news and more. If you can't volunteer, maybe you know someone that can. So please pass it along.

Thanks Maryann, and sorry for the hijack. It's just too important. Thought we could kill to birds so to speak. I'm from Ohio too!

Perhaps another question to ask is how many of our troops overseas receive their absentee ballot ? My youngest never got one when he was there for the last election...where there's one I'm sure there are more...

Altho this is theoretically "neutral", BY FAR THE MAJORITY OF SOLDIERS IN THE MIDDLE EAST WANT THE WARS IN IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN TO END. The great majority of soldiers see no SENSE in their being put in harm's way for Oil and War Profiteers. They most probably WON'T vote for Bushco and Republicans, in the majority of cases!

The Repugs will do ANYTHING, ANY DIRTY LOW-DOWN TRICK THEY POSSIBLY CAN, to just WIN. For the Republican National Committee, WINNING IS EVERYTHING. Morality and Democracy, even basic Decency, count for NOTHING.

The Repugs KNOW that they CAN'T POSSIBLY WIN BY ANY HONEST MEANS.
They must be CALLED ON THEIR MULTIPLICITY OF DIRTY TRICKS each and every time!

There was also an article earlier on Care2 that VOTING REGISTRARS WERE BANNED FROM VETERANS' HOSPITALS AS BEING "DISRUPTIVE". They had to WAIT ON THE SIDEWALKS OUTSIDE THE HOSPITAL in case any Veterans should come outside to register! BUT THEY COULDN'T LET THE VETERANS INSIDE KNOW THEY WERE WAITING THERE, OUTSIDE!
Of course, the most ill and wounded Veterans couldn't even go outside at all! The Voting Registrars WERE NOT ALLOWED TO SEND REGISTRATION MATERIALS TO THEM, even!!!
SOMEBODY {in the Government!} was making EVERY EFFORT TO PREVENT THE VETERANS IN THE HOSPITAL, FROM REGISTERING AND FROM VOTING.
If they had tried to enter the Veterans Hospital, the Voting Registrars would have been ARRESTED FOR TRESPASSING.

MORE Repuglican DIRTY TRICKS!!! To DISHONESTLY SKEW the elections by eliminating potential non-Republican voters!!! This makes me EVEN MORE ANGRY than anything cited above!!!!!
What about those Veterans that had no personal friends or family members to get Voting materials to them!!! THEY WOULD BE BANNED FROM VOTING FOR LIFE -- JUST BECAUSE THEY WERE IN HOSPITAL FOR LIFE!!!!!

The SAME as FELONS IN PRISON.

Seem the Republican's are busy trying to steal this election ! First it was the homeowners foreclosed on in Michigan that they tried to stop from voting now Ohio ! Obama has a lawyer on that case in Michigan to try and stop them from suppressing voters rights ,maybe he should have one on this one in Ohio too !

As a VietNam Era Veteran, I am proud to sign this petition. If not for this horrible economy, with the way our country has treated its veterans, we would find it nearly impossible to find new recruits for our military. We Vietnam vets have been ignored and even bashed for 40 years now. We The People must end this abuse - our political leaders obviously don't see any benefit in it.

The Repugnants in every election depend on disenfranchising every potential non-Repugnant voter they can. They did it in 2000 and in 2004. But, with each election they find a way to sink into an even lower gutter with a new gimmick. These are the same people who claim such great support for veterans and they are the same people who have fought to deny nearly every form of aid to veterans. Republican: definition: hypocrit The model of of Repugnantism: Karl Rove, the master of smear, distortions and lying.

Another Republican ploy to keep the vets from voting Democrat! They know McCain has voted against the vets and troops in every case....It's absolute bullshit that he loves his veterans.
