"To say I am disappointed in the department's actions would be a gross understatement," Ranker said. "I can tell you, however, as the chair of the committee with oversight over the Department of Fish & Wildlife, this story is far from over."..As chairman was Ranker not aware of what the dept was doing? I hope he "cleans house"...though it's putting the cart behind the horse in the case.....the damage has been done.

Bastards. I am sick and tired of these ranchers calling the shots and the state and federal govs. catering to them. You have a ranch where there are wild animals, you take the chance of losing livestock. There was absolutely no reason to kill those innocent wolves especially when ranchers are compensated for loses. I'm with Christine Stewart, meat eaters, boycott beef if you love wolves.

I went alone to the United Animals Nations Int. (The International Court for Animal Rights) and asked for compasssion but again, I am one. They cannot force any country to make any change but thanks to them there is a ban to Canadian seal fur embraced by the USA and the EU. There is a veredic regarding bulls in Spain (don't remember if for Toro De La Vega in specific) Gob of Spain might not make any case but veredic it's there and case is going soon to Strasbourg. - It must be people from the US the ones that should ask for help in solving the case of wolves.Managing/ regulating population by using scientific information. Petitions are not a good idea as this institution needs their email available 24/7 - and they are not decision makers- Letters are far better, they read them and they get everybodys view about the issue. They do not answer normally but if they receive many letters with information and updates they could do a better job. Address: 1820 Montreaux, Switzerland- email: - REMEMBER: THIS ALL BEGAN FOR THE DEMAND FROM THE PART OF PEOPLE TO EAT MEAT, TO SATISFY TASTE FOR MEAT. PRODUCERS ARE SATISFYING WHAT PEOPLE ARE ASKING FOR!!!
If we stop eating meat for some time at least, we could be helping wolves cause. The urgency to produce meat, satisfy people and not loose market, it's making things difficult for wolves and Buffaloes. It is a business because people decided it that way. With the draft of these days, price of meat is higher because food prices are higher. They do not want to loose any animal. Modify habits, say yes to life! SAY YES TO WOLVES!

This is a very upsetting time---I hope Senator Ranker follows through---something "Lawful' has to be done now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!~ So sick of this nonsense and constant greed and needless misery for innocent animals!!!!!!!!!!~

At the bottom of the article is link to the first article, where there is a click ballot to vote on whether the wolves should have been killed, or that other, earlier and continued measures should have been taken.
That first article mentions the intransigence of the welfare rancher toward nonlethal methods of dissuading wolves to go after cattle.

Go THERE and give your opinion.

We need politicians who have compassion and will not kiss the rearends of idiot hunters and livestock industries. Stop scapegoating animals. The federal and state governments are cold hearted. We have all out slaughter of wolves, roundups and slaughter of horses and burros the list could go on forever. Please vote these anti animal politicians out of office.

As we were leaving the Wolf Court last friday in Dane County, Wisconsin. 27 indictments were sent from The Wolf Army and HSUS to The State of Wisconsin Commissioner and Gov. Walker along with the fact that animal cruelty charges will be handed out when this wolf hunt starts on Oct. 15th. There is many lawmakers that find these hunts cruel, ugly, against Tribal rights, against many issues, its about time they are coming out of the shadows and saying it outloud.
They have been muffled, told to be quiet, pretty much over ruled, nothing has been getting accomplished, FINALLY, there is so many people gathering and talking and rallying, we are speaking LOUD AND CLEAR. Its getting on the news, on the papers, keep posting, keep talking, keep signing petitions. Please don't stop. Our beloved wolves need us. We are the only way they will live. And we will save them, again. This time we need to make it forever.

Has there ever been as much evil on this planet?

In Roman times, the roads were lined with people on crosses. The animals were starved and let out in the arena to kill for their meat,. They were starved.

How much longer will such obscene violence as all through the history of planet Earth since man emerged, how much longer will the Higher Powers tolerate this level of violence?

And the bloodlust continues. It's strange that man can rustle cattle, but they can't see that the wolf has a right to be there and do the same, except the wolf will only kill to eat and when it has to. The wolves do it to survive and that is natural for them, and they work hard to do it. I love all animals so I don't want to see any hurt, cows are sweet animals (I've known a few in my day), but all animals know they are either predator or prey, sometimes both. But man is just a selfish predator who hoards. And must conquer every animal, at least animals have decency and natural, innate compassion. I don't think they enjoy the hunt, they just want to survive, man wants to dominate and destroy. Look at our history. I hope that rancher and the others who helped him to wipe out an entire wolf family is punished, but I won't hold my breath, because men make deals and compromise usually to the benefit of the wrongdoer. I know those wolves spirits are in a better place now. Too bad only the Native Americans knew the value of the wolf. My heart breaks.

""I find it ironic that the attacks on livestock that caused this situation ... took place on a ranch that has been outspoken about the removal of the pack and has refused to work with the department to implement prevention measures successfully adopted by other ranchers," he added."

Sounds like the angry lawmaker needs to go after the ranch(s) that did the killing. Investigation is in order.

How tragic that this beautiful wolf pack was decimated because of a rancher who wanted them killed. I hope that non-lethal methods that Senator Ranker mentioned and that should have been used instead of killing this pack become the way to manage these wolves in the future instead of what happened! The taking of the lives of so much wildlife seems to be the way that we resolve conflict because it is quick and easy but not moral or just and we are the ones who have taken so much of their habitat! Man has an obligation to treat these animals' lives as valuable just as he wishes his life to be treated. Shame and dishonor on us for not treating other species lives as sacred too!
