Varroa mites are presently decimating bee colonies on just about every continent. The spread of varroa mites is most likely, at least in part, due to climate change.

It's not just the mites. Healthy bees can withstand a mite infestation, and bee die offs are happening in summer, as well as winter. The bees lost a whole lot of their food sources when monoculture farming laced with heavy duty pesticides took over.
