The Virginia State Police has created a new tip line specifically for the search for Morgan Harrington.

If you have any information that may help officials find Harrington, you are asked to call 434-352-3467. You can also still send e-mails to

.

The 20-year-old Roanoke resident and Virginia Tech student has been missing since attending a Metallica concert at the John Paul Jones arena at the University of Virginia Saturday.

It is believed she left the building while trying to find a restroom and, due to a school policy, she was not allowed to reenter the arena. Police say she called a friend between 8:30 and 9 p.m. after she was denied entry.

Police say a passerby found her purse and cell phone in a parking area between the arena and the athletic fields. However, there has been no contact with or from Harrington since she disappeared.

In a press conference Wednesday afternoon, police confirm that Harrington was on the grounds near JPJ until at least 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Officers with the UVA Police Department, VSP and the FBI have been searching the area, including areas around Davenport Field, Klockner Stadium and the arena.

A helicopter was used to try to help the search, but because of the foliage on the trees, that search was ended. Search teams using K-9 units were also used.

Police say they have now ended their localized ground search, and they are still treating this as a missing person case. However, they are conducting their search as a criminal investigation.

Police have gotten more than 100 calls from all over the country regarding this case and they are following all the leads from those calls as they can.

Officers from Virginia Tech, James Madison University, the city of Harrisonburg and many others are helping out with the search.

Police say Harrington may have driven her car from Virginia Tech to Harrisonburg, but did not elaborate on this.

According to police, information regarding a reward for information on Harrington's whereabouts will be released Thursday. The family is planning to offer at least $50,000.

Again, if you have any information that may help officials find Harrington, you are asked to call 434-352-3467. This phone line will be manned 24 hours a day. You can also still send e-mails to

bci-appomattox@vsp.virginia.gov

There are posts on the family website forum that say someone that fits her description fell inside the venue and could not speak when she got up. They thought she was drunk or stoned. Another site has information that she was sighted walking along a highway later.

If this was Morgan, and the two people actually did see her, and then reported accurately, she would have had a dissociative mental break. This problem was discovered and solved forty years ago. Knowledge workers using the first close-spaced office workstations began to have mental breaks. The problem was traced to the startle reflex. Designers built and tested the first cubicles to stop the problem by 1968.

Today almost no one knows why the cubicle was created. Students are at high risk for this mental event because they engage the same deep mental investment as knowledge workers in business offices. If they do that somewhere there is repeating detectable movement in peripheral vision they will have psychiatric symptoms. With enough exposure in a compact time frame they will have the sudden unexplained mental break. Again, this does not happen with small levels of exposure. It takes weeks.

Although designers and engineers have known about the problem for forty years they believe it can only cause a harmless temporary episode of confusion. That is the episode they see given the exposure possible during an eight hour work day. They do not recognize serious problems like the Virginia Tech shooting.

I wrote and warned Tech after the Cho shooting. The President of VTech sent me an acknowledgment letter promising that Subliminal Distraction would be investigated. It was probably a form letter sent to everyone suggesting something be investigated. I know nothing was done.

Subliminal Distraction is explained in first semester psychology under the physiology of sight, subliminal sight, and peripheral vision reflexes. Think about that! The subject is part of the core curriculum but administrators don't know it exists and do not warn students.

If it did cause the Cho shooting Virginia Tech is responsible for 32 deaths, a recent beheading in the grad center, and now the disappearance of Morgan Tarrington because they failed to provide Cubicle Level Protection where needed and to warn students.

What will it take to get Virginia Tech to act? Do you have a suggestion?

Visit VisionAndPsychosis.Net and read the 400 word introduction. There is a list of college students on the Missing Students page. The Dissociative Fugue and Mysterious Disappearances pages have other examples that have been in the news. You can reach me through the contact page.
