Animals  (tags: Animal Welfare, Animal Cruelty, Help Baily the Dog, Arthritic Dog Baily Deserves A Reprieve, URGENT ACTION! )

- 2075 days ago -
Please ask the judge to give Bailey a reprieve. Bailey is a 12 yr old arthritic lurcher cross who has about a year to live. He has been offered a new home as was stipulated in the first ruling. The next judge changed his mind & wants Baily PTS. HELP HIM!

There is no earthly reason to end this dog's life. Let him live out what is left of his life in peace and happiness. Someone would love to love him and care for him. Our legal system sucks for the most part, in more ways than one, but especially where animals are concerned. There are some judges with hearts and souls out there, but there are so many without who are so calloused that they have hearts of stone and they do not care what happens to these poor creatures. CHANGE THE LAWS and get these people off the bench after a certain number of years.

to mandate execution for ANY animal who has been offered a home is criminal - to do so in these circumstances is tragic. parents are held responsible for the actions of their children, yes - but if they prove incapable, the children are removed to better homes, not put down. pets should be held less responsible in similar circumstances, not more.

This is ridiculous. Bailey did not do anything wrong or commit any crime. Why he has to be punished for protecting his owner? It is better if the justice system will use this type of punishment for the real criminals such as animal abusers and this world will be a much better place!

Signed 12,952 - with impassioned comment that he will be a different dog with owners who will care for and protect him, whereas he had to care for someone who sadly seems unsuited to having dogs - he will be a different and calm dog with new owners where he does not have to assume the role of leader of the pack. We have all seen it so often....

Noted, and gladly signed, #12,953...I hope the Judge will use some common sense, and have a warm heart for an old Dog, and allow him to live out the rest of his life, in a loving home...

Noted, Signed & Shared with the following comment:
It is obvious that Bailey was only trying to protect his owner on both of these occasions especially as she is vulnerable when she drinks and due to her learning disabilities she was unable to adhere to the courtís order. The fact that Bailey showed no aggression at all toward the police when his owner wasn't there and totally cooperated with the police is proof that this dog isn't a dangerous dog and he should be allowed to go to a new home with a couple who have the capacity to make sure that Bailey wear a muzzle as the court ordered and therefore avoid any mishaps again in the future. The dog shouldnít be put down because of his ownerís failure to follow the courtís instructions. Bailey deserves to live the rest of his life in a loving home; he is elderly and his health isnít good. He merits a reprieve from this court as anyone can see that Bailey is a good dog who was only trying to look out for the welfare of his first owner. I urge the court to show compassion for Bailey by letting him live the remainder of his life with loving owners who can give him a proper home and the proper care he deserves.

People commit far worse crimes and yet their lives are sacred; all he did was nip to give a warning and now he may die. he won;t be euthatnized as euthanization is gnetle. he will be killed. Let's not confuse the two terms.
