One day we got irritated and went to the store and got (on sale) a big bunch of power strips that had off switches. We plugged them in all over the house, especially where the outlet is hidden and hard to get to. We now plug in electronic devices to the strips and turn the strips on and off when we enter/leave a room or use the devices. It's so easy and fast and now it's a habit. It's even easier if you have a 'switched' outlet - one that is controlled by the light switch on the wall. You can just flip the switch and turn off all the zombie power drains at the switch by the door!
The other day I shut off everything, leaving my husband and two of the cats up in his office with no power to the room. Whooops! I came running to turn the lights and tunes back on, of course. He was laughing too hard to even holler for help yet. Good habits are as easy to form as bad ones and they last just as long.
