I know from bitter experience that they pick on young children. They are probably driven to fight by natural male hormones.

known as the natural pecking order.....reared under more natural conditions it's a display of dominence.....& the loser would be able to back off.....not forced to defend itself to the death!.......only humans take pleasure in killing for the fun of it!

Some rooster do fight. Baney tend to be really bad about that. I know that my grandmothers rooster chased me deep into the field and I ran for five minutes and that devil was still chasing me.

When I got to the house my grandmother was laughing so hard. I am inclined to agree with Rene Zellewegger as Ruby Dewes in Cold Mountain as she said, "I just despise me a flogging rooster. Lets put him in a pot."

I was ready to get that rooster but my grandmother would not allow to put a hit out on him. She was really laughing and said, "You are not taking away my hen happiness."

Call me an monster if you will but I also believe in self preservation.
