SENSIBLE ADVICE, COMMON SENSE, NOT SENSATIONALIZED

“Marijuana,” said Dr. Eden, “is used for many reasons. Like many plants, it can be a medicine or a drug. It can heal pain, it helps some people relax, and it calms the stomach and helps many others eat when they need to.”

“Will it help me if I use it?” asked Jackie.

“No,” said the doctor. “Marijuana is for adults who can use it responsibly. It gives some people joy, but like many things, it can be used too much. I don’t recommend it for everyone. It is a strong medicine - not healthy for you right now. I know you understand that there are some things that are okay for an adult, but definitely not for children.”

No kidding it's about time! When I was in 7th grade, schools taught us that marijuana was horribly dangerous.

Then when we found out that it wasn't dangerous, and did not automatically and with no exceptions lead you to become a heroin junkie, we figured that they'd liked about marijuana being dangerous, so people thought that they were lying about cocaine, too.

I HOPE EVERYBODY WHO CAN, BUYS THE BOOK!
WHAT A GREAT XMAS PRESENT FOR PARENTS, TEACHERS, AND........KIDS!
Also there is a nice accompanying T-shirt you can get!
IT IS HIGH {yeah!} TIME FOR COMMON SENSE TO PREVAIL!!!
And, as Ron said, kids have their LIVES destroyed when their parents are arrested BECAUSE OF INSANE AND STUPID LAWS.

The last I heard, SCHOOLS ARE STILL TEACHING LIES.
Any teacher who tries to teach the TRUTH, gets in REAL TROUBLE.

These laws, by the way, are NOT AN ACCIDENT.
They are NOT because of the "stupidity" of our Ruling Class, WHO HAVE KNOWN THE TRUTH ALL ALONG.
Rather, it is a DELIBERATE action to put LOTS OF BLACK PEOPLE AND POOR PEOPLE IN JAIL; people who are unlikely to vote Republican; and DEPRIVE THEM OF THE VOTE THAT THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT WON AFTER SO MUCH STRUGGLE AND PAIN.

The United States of America HAS THE LARGEST PERCENTAGE OF ITS POPULATION IN PRISON, IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. Larger than CHINA, or Russia, or any Dictatorship. LAND OF THE "FREE", NO MORE.
MOST of the "offenders" are NON-VIOLENT and are there for breaking the Drug Laws. The MANDATORY SENTENCING LAWS give Judges NO CHOICE but to put people away FOR A LONG TIME. MANY are single Moms or parents who lose their children!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The so-called "War on Drugs" is, in REALITY, A WAR AGAINST THE POOR. AND RACIAL MINORITIES.
It affects EVERY ONE OF US.
Especially when Republicans deprive opponents of their very RIGHT TO VOTE!!!!!!!!!!

The problems of coke, meth, etc., should be treated as MEDICAL PROBLEMS NOT CRIMINAL PROBLEMS. And, yes, FORCING people who want harmless marijuana, to deal with a CRIMINAL UNDERWORLD in order to get it, leads to it being a "self-fulfilling prophecy" that Marijuana leads to "the hard stuff"..........it is ARRANGED to be so.........

The Capitalist Ruling Class WANTS you to be addicted. {ESPECIALLY if you are poor or a minority!} Then you will be TOO WEAK AND PRE-OCCUPIED TO FIGHT THEM.....

I may buy it my Elementary School (named after dad) I bet they have nothing like it! Wonder if it comes in Spanish, too. It's past time for this-where was this book when my kids were growing up? It would have made things a lot easier. Such silly fear over nothing...not talking about things is where the problems start. Noted/Shared

MARIJUANA-LIKE DRUG MAY HELP TREAT DEPRESSION

WASHINGTON ( Reuters ) -- A drug that boosts levels of the brain's own "bliss" chemical can help reverse symptoms of depression in rats, U.S. and Italian researchers reported Monday.

The drug helps maintain high levels of a compound called anandamide, named after the Sanskrit word for "bliss," which is chemically similar to the active ingredient in marijuana.

"These findings raise the hope that the mood-elevating properties of marijuana can be harnessed to treat depression," said Daniele Piomelli, director of the Center for Drug Discovery at the University of California, Irvine, who led the study.

"Marijuana itself has shown no clinical use for depression. However, specific drugs that amplify the actions of natural marijuana-like transmitters in the brain are showing great promise," he added in a statement.

Cannabis compound 'could halt breast cancer'

A chemical found in cannabis may stop breast cancer spreading through the body say scientists. Researchers are hopeful that a compound found in cannabis called cannabidiol (CBD) could be a non-toxic alternative to chemotherapy. Unlike cannabis, CBD doesn't give users a 'high' and it is not illegal.

Doctors stress that smoking cannabis is unlikely to effective as sufficient quantities of CBD are not found in the leaf. They have to be extracted and are then concentrated to make a dose strong enough to kill cancer cells.

Thank you so much for posting this! I heard about this book awhile back and was so happy to find it! The government is trying to keep us from this SACRED HERB! The more we educate others about it's benefits, the better. Too bad that most people would not consider using it for medicinal reasons until it was a last resort for their sick and suffering loved one.. how sad....
