Tired of paying as much as $340 per month for gas and electricity at the Cape Cod home here where he has lived for 18 months, Michael Mercurio erected a 35-foot windmill in his backyard last fall and helped reduce his bill to about $114 - a year.

See? People just aren't taking either global warming seriously or the fact that, whatever, we are running out of oil and we don't yet have an affordable or renwable replacement.

This reminds me of an old Twilight Zone episode where someone builds a bomb shelter, and the neighbors all think he's a little eccesntric, until the bombs begin to fall. Then they turn into a mob. Watch out for that mob, Mr. Mercurio!

Township code says 32 feet high and from ground to blade tip is 40 feet. But they granted him a permit.

Of course, I know that I don't think there should be required sprinkling and mowing of green lawns nor should there be prohibitions of solar panels nor clothes drying lines.

I wish I could do that, I live in an apartment, but I plan on having something like this once I get a house. I think this is a great idea! Way to go Mr. Mercurio!
