We have fewer rights than we think, as employees in the U.S. workplace. This is a great piece by Barbara Ehrenreich, author of "Nickel and Dimed" and other books about how hard life really is in America is for entry-level workers. This is an eye-opener.

Worker's rights have been increasingly neglected since the 80s. Most employers seem to believe that employees don't have a life outside the workplace or that if they do it should come in second after the good of the company. The 40-hour workweek is a myth these days.Workers are forced to work mandatory overtime or face losing their jobs. Companies expect loyalty from employees but show little loyalty back if it threatens the bottom line. The days of the "wage slave" have returned.

Hi. Speaking of workplace rights, I just found this: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/takeaction/787474406

Did you know that "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" is the only federal law that mandates firing an American because of his or her sexual orientation? That's shocking! Please sign the petition to repeal the policy. Thanks!
