I don't know why the goverment is worried about media coverage - most of the news is controlled by the same interests who'll minimize the information anyway, sad to say. And, as distracted as most people are, would they act on it ? I am honestly NOT seeing a majority of people trying to carpool, recycle, or reduce their impact on this earth.

Thanks everyone! And Pamylle I agree. If people really knew the condition of the environment more people would carpool, recycle, or reduce their impact on this earth.

The present,and thankfully outgoing US administration,is only concerned with any facts,that back up they're narrow dogma,or can be manipulated to back this neo-con ideology..everything that is contrary to that,is to be silenced.
The religious right are keen,to take America into a second dark age.After all,some of them beleive that the earth is only 4-6000 years old???
It is worth read Carl Sagan's writings, on the new medievalism,where the scientific method,and enlightenment values, are under threat from hokum .

the bush administration has had a gag ruling in place in prevent the facts from coming out to light. There have been articles, papers written by scientists that have been redacted as not to show facts about many issues facing USA and the World regarding pollution, global warming and so on...
