I've often wondered at nutritionists telling us to eat a varied diet, thinking, how varied could it be eons ago, not thinking that we sprang up as a species in Africa and would have access to a somewhat varied diet. Heck, I can imagine they ate anything they could get their hands on.
Were we so different from the "upright hominid ancestor" that the possibility of 'absorbing'them into 'our' population isn't possible?
