Philly SPCA holds a tailgate party to show dogs rescued from dog fighting rings. It's about change, not revenge.

We are a family who loves Pit Bulls and we have two among our 25 cats between our three families. I and my family hope that the .. 2nd Chance Dogs campaign ...is a resounding success. And as far as Mr Vick is concerned .. he should thank our LORD for his 2nd Chance...because if it were up to me .................!

I would like to think that if there is an upside to the Michael Vick story it's a heightened awareness of the practice of dog fighting and, hopefully, with that a lower likelihood of it continuing to occur.

As much as I despise Michael Vick because of his actions with regard to dog fighting, I will agree with you Marty. Anything, and I mean anything that will prevent animal fighting is a good thing. My goal is to stop animal fighting. Secondary to that, help the victims of it.

People need to realize that Vick is potentially the key to inner city dog fighting which is a status symbol for those who do it. His pledge of millions could become ongoing with his earning potentials in the NFL.

Contacting sponsors of the Eagles with letters that reflect how valuable Vick could be to the teams revenue if they started giving a % of their profits to educate in Philly would open doors to evey other team sponser doing the same when they played the Eagles in their city.

If we are smart we can literally raise huge sums of money while molding Vick into a Football playing Bob Barker and associate him with education and prevention of dog fighting.

The cause closest to my heart is that of stopping animal fighting. Several years ago I had a little bit of extra money. I came across the story of Gypsy the bait dog. Some of you may remember her. Gypsy is a pit bull who has a sweet personality. She wouldn't fight, so she was harmed to make her bloody and thrown to other pit bulls to use as an object to tear up. Gypsy was thrown out on the side of the road, left for dead. A kind lady came by and picked her up. Gypsy was taken to a vet clinic and saved. She went through many surgeries. She lost her front leg, most of her lips, but not her sweet spirit. Gypsy was taken to a University and had reconstructive surgery to give her lips. Her time is now spent as an ambassador to show kids why dog fighting is a bad thing.

This is very graphic....

This is why I care so much.

I cannot agree, As far as I'm concerned the HSUS has gotten the fox to guard the henhouse by taking on Vick. he should never TOUCH another dog for the rest of his days. I am deeply disappointed that they couldn'thave hired on an animal lover instead of this waste. Does anyone actually think that urban kids or anyone else buys this? He is not remorseful one but about what he did exceot to the extent that he got caught and it damaged him.
