Thanks for the article, Michael. Stella, you hit the nail on the head, money and religion never belonged in the political equation in the first place! Tasunka - we all KNOW that, but it still needs to be repeated, over and over again since some political parties and politicians continue to act like it's acceptable (in hopes we forget?)

From Bill Moyer on this post on his wall. Ever since speaking with author Ellen Brown last year I have been curious about State Banks and their potential to be part of a viable alternative financial system. When combined with establishing or strengthening credit unions and community banks, appropriate taxation of (or dismantling of) the giant Wall Street banks, auditing and/or federalizing the Federal Reserve - this idea begins to make "Moving Our Money" - including our tax dollars - a much more realistic and powerful call to action. Haven't read it all yet but will.

TY MIchael, however for all our wishing it won't happen. Separation of church and state is in the constituion and at some point we may be able to stop the right from bringining in religious issues such as abortion. Howvever money,, that is wishful thinking. Our stupid supreme courst says corporations a the same as people. it is obviously going in the other direction. The recesstion and wallst. who caused, it who actually benifited from the 99%'s misery!!! The money people.

I noticed the following quote in the "Occupy USA Democracy is Coming" video, and I think it bears repeating in its entirety:

"Government is instituted for the common good; for the protection, safety, prosperity and happiness of the people; and not for the profit, honor, or private interest of any one man, family or Class of men: Therefore the people alone have an incontestable, unalienable, and indefeasible right to institute government and to reform, alter, or totally change the same, when their protection, safety, prosperity and happiness require."
~John Adams

Corporations are not people, not matter what five SCOTUS justices may have ruled! One of the primary purposes of SCOTUS is to assess the constitutionality of laws passed by the United States government. John Adams was one of the writers of our constitution. I guess they didn't read the quote.

As John Adams advised so many years ago, It's time to to reform, alter, or totally change our government, because our protection, safety, prosperity and happiness require it.

Thanks for an outstanding article, Michael, along with some great videos.

I'm having more trouble getting videos to play than ever before, but i'm going to the UW website to see what they have..
This would be an awesome start, especially the idea of forgiving student loans to stimulate the works for me! Thanks Michael, this is a path where we have to explore every rational possibility, and keep trying to change out a few SCOTUS liabilities at the same time.

Fabulous, Susanne!!!!!
That quote should be repeated with regularity. I have read it lately and don't mind reading it again because it is SO important. There is NO reasonable rebuttal anyone could give to that - that would not point to the absurdity of their statement and where their concerns lie (selfish personal interest).

Well, we are starting to get some money our of politics, particularly our election farce/process as is demonstrated by this recent happening.

"The Montana Supreme Court just sent a chill down Corporate America’s spine. The state’s high court restored the century-old ban on direct spending by corporations on political candidates or committees" ---

And, hopefully this is the beginning of major movement for other States to do the same. Of course, this is going to take some time but at least there‘s momentum building in that direction. Sadly, getting religion out of politics and our government may be much harder, as the fanaticism goes way beyond any rational thinking.

So, no matter how much sense it makes to keep State and Religion separate, and truly honor freedom of religion, so many religious fanatics want to demand that everyone believes the exact same way as they do. This too, however, can change with enough people standing up for what’s truly right.

Tom Paine had said about this, ''Soon after writing Common Sense, I saw not only a revolution in Govt, but also in Religion.'' That never happened for Jefferson's thoughts of all Churches being basically UU by 1850 did not come true. There is no doubt that Congress has been trying to make laws for what I call THE-MEDIA-RIGHT-STORM. Lets keep reminding them that there was never to be a religious test to hold office.

(On another not, does anyone know how to get permission from the owners of images to use them? I just got a message from OEN that they are not sure if its legit to use them without permission.)

Thomas Paine didn't live in the now. His world wasn't filled with GREED.
They were men of Diplomacy and Financial Responsibility for their young country.
Modern Man, with all his advances has allowed himself to transgress.
We do not need Religion in Government.

People protest everything there but not the banxters.
Also they have no goal in common Michael.
The gov's have allowed and authorised the banxters to steal the wealth of the 99% and run with the money.
And therefore OWS should be renamed OWH (Occupy White House)

This would be good for the beginning.
Remember OWS was created from Rothschild agent george Soros to destabilize the USA and faaaaaar above for their purpose:
Ordo Ab Chao

This to drop paper money and get total surveillance - plastic money - as currently we can see in Italy, where Mr. Monti announced drastical measures: No purchase in cash above EUR 1,000 - everyone is obliged for a bank account, everyone.
And thus obliged for plastic money.
Is this what peaceful OWS protesters want - a glassy citizen ?

Never OWS was intended to bring a change.
It was deliberately made to bring down and distract people and find a reason for the detention act and sending the first dissidents to the newly opened + 800 FEMA campos.
Michael, I warned you - OWS is not what it seems.

It is an other con from your government, assisting the final plan of Rotten Child agenda.

Thanks so much for the article Micheal. You are always coming up with interesting things to think about and I appreciate that. That is why I am on care2 all the time and not FB where all my friends want me to do is play farmville. If I had all the time in the world I would not play that game. So I really appreciate being around people that care all the time. And I must say it amazes me how much time some people put into putting out petitions and letting everyone know about what is going on. So I am writing too much but I just wanted you to know I admire your activism and standing up for what you believe. Even If I may not always agree, I do listen because I feel your heart is in the right place. Some people who support Ron Paul I would not like and I know it because I know why they like him and it is not for the right reasons. Not that I know everything but I have always had very strong political
opinions and there is a lot about Paul I like too. And if your profile is true I feel that must be why you like him too. If he would run as an independent and not want to take away the IRS (I hate them too, they take all our taxes because of back child support from a kid that my husband adopted and then was taken out of state so he could not even see her.) It broke his heart but he stopped paying because he couldn't see her. Well the IRS and the state could care less, you have a court order you pay it. The child is now 30 years old and I bet she does not see a penny of it. I would feel better if I knew she was getting it, but the law says it goes to the mother. I am sorry I did not mean to get into my problems with the IRS,just saying I have my problems with them too. I never have gotten a cent back from them since my first marriage. They just take and take so I have no love for them at all. Just to say I get it, but it would be bad for the country in my humble opinion. Anyway this is supposed to be about OWS which I am so proud of everybody out there that is involved with that. What I have really like and hope they do as much as they can of is helping the people getting foreclosed on because I think that will get the most attention from the evil banks and who is going to throw them off the property. Really if it gets so bad the police start taking people that are trying to keep a family in a home they have lived in and been paying on but because of the racket loans the bank gave them all of a sudden they have to pay more for a house that is worth half of what the mortgage company says. Anyway I won't go on about it but that is what I think the OWS should focus on and not just camping out in parks. Try to do anything to hit the people that really caused this mess. And don't give up just because you get arrested. If people weren't willing to get arrested the south would still be just like it was. Some people have to be made to change and those 1% ers that control everything have nothing to lose by keeping things just like they are.I am so glad they are being told that their are people out there that will not let them control everything. That is really the only reason I am a democrat. Both parties are crooked but the Republicans are really crooked and I can't stand any of them really. Even my friends that are Republican and religious I like them but don't understand them at all. Love to OWS

I first found this quote when joing Care2 in Feb 2008, "I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

Thomas Jefferson, (Attributed)
3rd president of US (1743 - 1826)-

He may not have said it. (If he didn't I sure would like to know how long its been in existence?) But from reading Jefferson he certainly thought it. And it was here were I first heard about the Fed. Then somewhere...Paul came into the picture. My last 2 Newsfeeds here got so heated that I left Paul out of it and just added in the issues that do seem very important. On OEN the hemp,(Willie Nelson is big on Hemp and it was Care2 where I first heard that Hugh Downs'' video on hemp.) banking insurance and military issues come up a lot from mainly progressives writers.

"We need banks not only for farmer and consumer cooperatives, but for real industrial cooperatives and collectives: cooperativization on a national scale is a question of the most basic freedom for our whole population. If America is ever to become truly free, the organized power of the people must be used to ensure that everyone has an alternative to being forced into wage slavery. That choice can only be through worker cooperatives."

History of Work Cooperation in America is a chronicle of co-ops, unions, communalism, work and social justice movement from early times to the present.

This came from some where out in cyber space. Going to post the link below right after I post it as a comment in the Article. This stuff is my passion. (Pet peeves appeared to me as distractions from not having mind's eyes on the prize.)I t sure seems to me that it ties in with soun money and getting out of the Fed.

Below is a short book that I published nearly three decades ago, History of Work Cooperation in America (1980) (ISBN 0-938392-00-X), which was distributed through the then-widespread “underground” media. My new book, Worker Cooperatives or Wage Slavery, scheduled to be published by PM Press in 2008, covers similar ground, but completely rethought, rewritten, updated, and greatly expanded. The intervening decades, and my research and experience since, have served to confirm and—I hope—deepen my understandings and conclusions. Anyway, here is the earlier work.

David and Bonnie feel 'Occupy' expresses a new consciousness emerging - a desire for fundamental change at deepest levels of our collective being, and that subtle activism goes hand in hand with street activism. This video is a tangible way for us to energize and co-influence a world of greater possibilities for us and our home planet.
