This is a sad reality. Instead of spending all their time on the so called Health Care reform, I think our government should be doing everything it can to create more jobs in this country...My heart goes out to these people.

thanks for posting this... I used the article in a blog I run to raise money for charities where I live:
http://frederickmdcharities.blogspot.com/2009/08/but-for-grace-of-god-goes-you.html

All of you Care2 readers of Terry's community here can help us here in Frederick by commenting on the blog and by subscribing to it's posts via either email or RSS reader. If you know how it would be beneficial to Digg it and vote for it on Mixx.com

For those of you that aren't social media savvy (I'm a full time consultant) you can help Terry with this community by the little "bookmark" button, there are dozens of social media sites to "vote for" this community. Only downside is you'll have to sign up for all of them just like you signed up for this one.

If you don't have cold hard cash to donate, you CAN help by voting for, fave-ing, Mixx-ing, Digg-ing, commenting and subscribing to this communities RSS feed.
(google tracks the number of subscribers, that's one of the ways Google decides which site gets to be #1)

No one should ever be homeless in this country or any country! In Europe people are given, medical care, housing, babysitting and food!Without jobs or retirement or savings, they take care of the people! The USA does not take care of the people that live in the USA!When will the USA grow a Heart and give to others all compassion and love of people helping one another! This divide and conquer is sabatoging our country our families our friends, our homes, our Future. It looks as if the USA has no future plans for it's citizens or for the people living here!I live at venice beach and see homeless every day, feed them and do what i can to help, the other day a homeless man came here and said he was hungry,i looked all around the kitchen ,had nothing and i was hungry myself!I have been without food for 6 days!It is not a pleasant experience, and i believe all people, animals and mammals, should always have food and a home, for we are all One in One divine Source.

Stow away the sadness... hitting rock bottom is never a bad thing

shit happens, we get over it
what doesn't kill you makes you stronger

I was in a homeless shelter more than once, (I'm a recovering addict, I'm also a incest survior, ptsd often leads to substance abuse)

quit the pity party and get on with life2.0 or stage 2 or the next act
reframe it (NLP term, google N.L.P)

Here look, it's not the end of the world, you get a chance to start over

it may make you stronger, but being homeless is hard on kids. i would encourage everyone to give to charities that offer stability and a pathway toward independence. and remember that it's still worth giving even if some of the money gets into the wrong hands. it's just the nature of the beast.
