This is an alarming story, although I've heard of this before. It is something (anitbiotics, but a lot of medicines we all take) do not break down in the water. I knew there was residue when making these medicines, but just how much I wasn't certain about. I worry about it as "we" carry waste into our city water systems, too....and their water purification systems do not filter all the medicine out.

I'm not sure how the EPA will begin to regulate this - we are in a world where everyone wants access to medicine, and the EPA is certainly not real powerful when it comes to the air quality.

Terry, this would be a good article to circulate to have more conversation on.

People noting this article....please try to circulate it among your friends, and leave a comment on your thoughts, too!

These companies need a taste of their own medicine... they need to bring in sweeping new regulations regading this urgent matter.. I hope that there will be many voices concerning this.. these people, do they think they we are going to take two asprins go to bed and wake up in the morning, and not worry about this, well it is not over until the fat lady sings!

Thanks Terry...

This article comes as no surprise to me...wish we could bottle up all of their water and give it back to them with a ton of prescriptions just shoved inside.

I do know once I went into the pharmacy and someone asked what they could do with their old prescriptions, and the drug personnel didn't know. I said, do not flush it down the drain, or put in a dump, take it to a hospital and just drop it off. So much junk in our water and it is just horrible.

Thanks Terry, this does need to get out to people that may NOT be aware of this, but we are a Human race that is so infected with our water, food etc, we have sadly succummed to being one of the "Super drugs" ourselves.

Thanks Terry and to Peace and Charles who passed this on to me. I won't act surprised that Pharmaceutical Companies are lying to people about their operations while they feign good stewardship of the environment.

I appreciate you putting this story up on Care 2 Terry. It is very disturbing, although I suppose we all "knew" about it but hoped that they would in fact do something about it... How silly were we to let them get away with it for all those years

No surprise, but you might want to check the administration and congress's arrangement with drug companies. According to the Wall St Journal, a deal was cut to gain the drug industries support for health care legislation that agreed to limit any cuts to drug companies. I posted the article a little while ago, $80billion deal...

As to this article, they should be held accountable for what I assume is illegal dumping of dangerous chemicals into our waterways. Hard to find a safe place to go fishing, this just makes it harder.

I WILL be happier when more folks realize that natual remedies(herbs, accupuncture, alternative medicine, homeopathy, etc.) are the way to really heal the body. WE must go back to the old ways for healing in most cases. T^hat show to stop these compaines, get informed and REAL-ize they are Bad for you.
