A phone call brought Melodie Bohuchot news so improbable, she thought it must be a joke: Her husband had been killed when a Toyota Camry with a jammed accelerator rear-ended him at 120 mph

OH MY!!! After reading this article my heart goes out to her!!!

After all of the business closing here in Southern California, who is building a great big building for new cars, YEP, Toyota!!!

These car companies do not call back problems unless a person lets them know, I know that for a fact, had a Ford T-Bird and there was a problem, but when my vehicle had a problem and I called Ford, they informed me that it was past the deadline and I had to pay to fix it myself!!! Fought that one tooth and nail, still had to pay over $600 for a manifold (?) defect, what is with these car companies....

Let's hide what we can and ignore the rest...something is wrong with this picture!!!

Thanks Terry! Great article, my heart goes out to her and her children, what a tragic thing to happen!

My heart and prayers go out to Rio and her 3 precious children who will never again have their father with them! This tragic loss and the others mentioned clearly illustrate irresponsiblility which Toyota reps. seem to downplay which certainly 'seals the deal' ... that being NO SALE !!!!!!!!!!
Their attitude reminds me of a newspaper that places a retraction in small print on the bottom of the last page where few will find it !!!!
The people who lost their lives due to Toyota's negligence deserve so much more! and so do their loved ones left behind to pick up the pieces and who tie messages of love on balloons rising on broken hearts and dreams!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Lone Wolf for this news story though i like everyone else is tremendously saddned and angered by Toyota's pitiful response!

Lyons said that he didn't "even have a rough timeline" for the recall. He added, however, that "this is very rare. It's usually the wrong mat or an improperly installed mat. Our vehicles have hooks that hold the mats in place, and what we mostly see is that the hooks are not being used."

Oh okay how many have floor mats without hooks??? This still shouldnt have happend...

One day at a Time should the Life force be broken between a family..we have made a choice with God to when we come back home it's hard to fathom when it's your Child or husband or Mother ~ but if we can open this level of experience in our life that Death is the awakening of Life in the Real World on the Other Side we then can start to pursue a more spiritual gathering among Family and Friends here on Planet Earth ~ Our Loved ones have chosen to exit before us for their journey on the Other side has many bridges to cross and to achieve a higher understanding of self realization. My Loving energies go with you my friend ~

What a horible tradegy... I hope that Toyota will be held accountable for the damages and suffering both parties have had to go through.. Perhaps their mass production has skipped the quality control, which is normally very good..

I doubt this is only toyota's problem, damned floormats slide and fold on lots of vehicles in my experience.

This is so very sad. I love the way the girls send letters to their father, and wish instead, that it could bring him back.

I also found that reporting a safety concern to Toyota was less than satisfactory. i do believe this idea of using one's advertising to discuss and address safety issues is a good one. And rather than creating bad PR, it would create more effective industry to community to industry communication, and better safety.

ANOTHER TOYOTA HAZARD: Excessive electromagnetic fields.

I have a milligauss meter which measures electrical fields. 3 milliguass is known to be unsafe, at least in Sweden. I don't think we have set standards in the USA. Cars tend to have high fields close to the wall separating driver from engine, and I usually measure a couple feet away from the accelerator and right in front of the driver's heart/chest area. Values are typically above 3 but less than 10. The units are "exponential" I think, so that 4 is much higher than 3, and so forth.

In the drivers area and in the backseat of a brand new Toyota Prius, I measured 100 milligauss... well, it could have been 200 or 1000 for that matter, because my meter's needle can't reach beyond 100.

I am sure they were polite when I made the call telling Toyota of this safety hazard. I have no reason to believe they have taken it into their own set of concerns.
