This is a terrible condemnation of our society as all of these people are very young or young. I hope that the courts take this seriously and ensure that they are old and grey before they come out.

This is no different than it was 54 yrs. ago when I was gang raped!!! The parents of these kind of kids have no business having kids because they don't have a clue how to teach compassion, right, wrong, sensitivity.
When it comes right down to the bear facts how many of these children are results of rape themselves????

I say castration would be a better punishment and also life in prison. This is something this girl will never forget. And to think of the people that just stood around and said nothing. Not wishing bad but they need to watch themselves also they could get into trouble as well.
Tks Terry

I can believe several people stood by & watched & let this go on. All of these boys that raped this girl should have there BALLS cut off & their ass sit in prison the rest of their life. This girl is going to live w/ this the rest of her life. The people who watched & did nothing should be punished as well, if they could find them all. This is just sick.

Thank goodness they are catching these psychotic juvenile idiots! I think the ones that watched and did nothing should be in just as much trouble, if not more, for not helping, nor dialing 911! This continues to make me feel ill!

I hope they get the right people, sometimes end up in a jail others that take the rap, it would be great if they really get the people who did this atrocity.

ok... I just need to say this... (as usual!)

I hear all you people wanting justice (rightfully so!) and wanting to castrate these dudes and do bodily harm.

I think that is part of the problem! HOW can you tell youth this violence is just plain WRONG, when your demanding blood and pain and torture?

WHAT ARE YOU TEACHING???????????

Nyack you are quite right in what you say. However most of us find such atrocities completely revolting and gut wrenching in the extreme and our reactions tend to be a reciprocal of that revulsion. Allowing the perpetrators whether they be other kids or rich adults like Polanski escape justice is to me equally revolting. When these miscreants go through the justice mill instead of the therapies being used to rehabilitate them they may well be given just a slap on the wrist and even if they incacerated they are likely to end up becoming more disenfarnchised with society and therefore further danger to it upon release. Castration may be a kneejerk reaction but sexual violence is in most people's books even worse than other forms of violence often creating a completely broken victim emotionally if not physically. I think what your saying is we are perhaps little better than the lynch mobs of the wild west or wherever. Summary justice is no justice at all! With all the best will in the world many times around the world everyday victims are traumatized for life while the perpetrator virtually gets away with the crime even if found guilty by a court. The cry for castration is therefore a cry for the victim and the injustice of the justice systems of the world! Another saying is if don't want to do the time then don't do the crime! and in this particular case it was only neccessary for those not very good men to stand by for evil to triumph ie nobody phoned the police etc whilst the actions took place and thus their guilt is just as bad as the rapists!

yea i understand that.

Rape is sexual violence and so is castration. You want to "teach" a child how wrong something is...so.. you do the same.

no, really, is THAT logical, especially in the mind of youth?

I mean... there ought to be one clear message-

Either sexual violence is acceptable... OR IT IS NOT.
