Another incredibly sad story. I don't think the parents need any further punishment. They need to be home with the little boy who fired the shot and try to heal together. Sending them to prison will only create more hell for their son. Thanks Terry

This is why people should not own guns. I'm sorry for the children but the parents, especially the father, were more than negligent. Guns should be secured in locked boxes which are attached to something secure.

What a tragedy, so senseless and unnecessary. Responsible gun owners lock up their weapons, especially when young children are in the home. The father, an Army reservist, should have known better. My heart goes out to the little boy who has to live with this forever.
I agree with Shari, sending them to prison is counterproductive in this case. What worse punishment than knowing that due to your negligence one child was killed and the other severely traumatized. Unless they are psychopaths, they are already serving a life sentence.

Very Sad!! Nonthing was said about how the boy is doing? He will have to deal with what happened the rest of his life, his parents also. How did the boy get the gun? The parents and the boy will need a lot of counseling to heal from this. Yes guns should be locked away from anyone who is not able to understand the out come of useing them. Locking away the parents will only increase more damage that was already done. The little boy and parents need help with grief, loss of a child, so much issues for the family.
