Bill McKibben used to think that lack of action to stabilize the climate came from widespread apathy, denial, or comfort with the status quo. Here's what made him change his mind.

Rather inspiring!

Easily understood.

The fossil fuel industries make so much $ because these fuels are the most efficient energy generators (barring nuclear, which is so dangerous and toxic to life to refine and use that it requires heavy shielding).

This ease of generative power makes it highly addictive, and the present-day efforts to extract more are so large-scale that the corporations involved have to be huge. So the scale is continually growing larger, and individuals appear to have no power to change it.

Yet, corporations, like governments, are merely consenting coalitions of humans. How to diminish that consent, that coalition? (answer this, and gain agreement: consent, coalition)

Corporations appear to be in the process of superseding government as human social organisms. In the world they have controlled the formations of governments for well over 100 years.
