Scientists say not to attribute human emotions to animals. Are we not animals? All animals, including humans, have emotions...love, hate, anger, fear, and elation. Scientists and others try to separate us form other animals to make us feel superior --- we are NOT!

Ramona said it best. They probably try to justify the no emotion part to take away whatever semblance of guilt they have for experimenting on them. Some scientists should be checked for their lack of emotion. Maybe they don't qualify as human.

Oh how sad!! You are so right, Ramona! I don't feel superior to animals. Just because I can talk and figure out things; you think they don't know what's going on? The ANIMALS know MORE than WE DO!! Thnx, Ramona, noted.

How sad for both turtles, and all the animals around the world who are not given the consideration they rightly deserve.

This sort of display by the turtle will, hopefully, open up peoples' minds to the reality that animals form strong bonds, and they do grieve losses.

Thanks for posting.

For anyone who missed it, check out this incredible video which documents a crow who adopted a kitten and "took it under her wing."

"Heart breaking to see those images but it was also so touching just to see him come up and be so close to the memorial it was almost like he was coming up to say goodbye."

Well, of course he was saying goodbye!
And, as long as turtles live, who knows
how long they were together?
People say animals cannot feel love,
compassion or grief. Those people are
just so full of crap.

Thanks, Ramona!

I feel infinitely inferior to most animals (if not all!). Who are we to say whether they can feel emotions. Certain animals mate for life - they're certainly more loyal that a hell of a lot of humans! They don't kill for pleasure or entertainment, they only do it for food, and every animal has it's own natural predator that they'll naturally flee from, but won't flee from others as they sense no danger, but as soon as a human comes along - they'll ALL flee, whether birds, fish, mammals or amphibians. Doesn't or shouldn't that make us feel ashamed.

The animals are alot smarter then some of the humans I know. The scientists are unemotional idiots & are like robots that seriously need some oiling & adjustments. A very sad story.

Heartbreaking. But they didn't say who killed the turtle, did they? Was that not important? Scientists are usually the last to know about stuff like this cause you can't see or prove love so I guess they think animals don't know what it is if they don't know what it is.

Most other species are FAR beyond humans in many respects....including RATIONALITY & LACK OF BIAS.....& have a far greater control of their emotions...which DOESN'T mean they lack them....& above all....they are NOT VENGEFUL!....they accept the realities of life & do not PLAN for the future.. so are FAR more capable of living for the moment...they Endure SUFFERING...MOST of which is INFLICTED by man to satisfy their SELF IMPOSED needs!...MANKIND have MUCH to learn from them.....the question is....."WHEN WILL THEY EVER LEARN"!
