Noted, thanks Gana. Yes, JL A., there were so many matriarchal cultures in the ancient world, according to my small knowledge.

And now we may be on the verge of killing off the rest of human society, with our stupidity, greed and perceived need to control.

Thanks for posting Giana, this is an intriguing subject. There is a tendency to think of matriarchal cultures as more egalitarian, less warlike, and with better rights for women overall than patriarchal cultures. I'm not sure that could be said of the Moche. They may not have been truly matriarchal even tho' the priestesses were right up there in social ranking. Other women may not have enjoyed good treatment. While all of the pre-Columbian city-state cultures in South American left artifacts and architecture of great beauty and precision, they practiced quite literally blood-curdling rituals. Also, the sexual imagery on Moche pottery depicts fellation. It suggests the men were getting their needs met, ritually or otherwise, in between killing each other.

Women who have ruled have on average been more violent than men who ruled, when you compare like for like. "Women make a lot of emotional, spontaneous and irresponsible decisions. In general, of course. I think if women were heads-of-state in all nations on earth, warfare wouldn’t be reduced at all. In fact, it may be even worse." - Konovalenko

Fascinating, especially finding out they actually survived the harsh weather changes, only to destroy themselves from within. Noted and thank you.

GOP women take note that you're democratic counterparts out number you 3 to 1. Ever wonder why. Time to call a misogynist a misogynist and start kicking so stupid butt.

Karma happens even in the ancient world. Not all women are loving and kind. Sarah Palin the mighty bear killer comes to mind. Or did she just kill wolves? Campaign karma got to her before she could do any real damage.

I have heard it said that when a woman turns bad she's better at it than the male.
