California wildlife experts and cops are baffled - and angered - by whoever is shooting sea lions whose corpses are washing up along the Malibu coast.

Yes, distressful ! ~ thank you for posting ! I had not heard of this until now. I don't understand, surely this is a state issue, I can't see why state wildlife services or some official agency can't patrol the fishing boats out there if there is suspicion that they may be responsible. While it is possible some rouge boat is out there killing off sea lions, what is the probability of that ? ! not high !

Sick worthless POS sadists. Video surveillance would greatly help---place it somewhere/anywhere. Thx Giana

Sounds like they need more people out in the water, keeping an eye on the activity....

Thanks Giana. I hope some type of observation is being set up to catch the shooter(s). What a horrible, horrible shame.

Id bet my bottom dollar its fishermen, the seals swimunder the boats and bite the fish off the line, thats why. You cant win with the fishermen, they think that the only good seal is a dead seal. I learned that very quickly when i moved to this fishing town. If i see seals, i dont tell anyone. Once i watched fishermen getting closer and close to a rock with seals on, i was standing on a very visible rock on the shore and kept my camera zoomed onto the boat, they had a rifle and eventually they went away..because i was watching them. There is a law here that they are not allowed to take guns onto the boats, shoot seals or sea birds but who would police it?

Really wondering what has happened to the much killing, not all for money. It's the sickos who do it for sport. Wonder when these same people will get tired of wildlife killing and turn to humans??
