Friday 16th October, 8.30 in the morning.

55 puppies, some of them barely weeks old, as big as the hands which mindlessly killed them, others older, wagging their tails hoping for breakfast, are pushed into a cold and wet room to be monstrously killed at Eyüp Municipal Shelter in Hasdal, İstanbul.

55 little, angelic puppies…

The reason? The hatred of a man… Hasan Gencdal, the Head of the Istanbul Greater Municipality Veterinary Department.

Gençdal, working together with Recep, the shelter manager and Ahmet Bölükbaşı, the Chief Veterinarian, in a supreme act of stupidity wiped out 55 healthy little puppies. Their bright eyes once filled with the joy to live will never see the light of day again…

In order to justify their henious act they went as far as fabricating an unbelieveble story about a rabies outbreak, about a little puppy biting and spreading the disease. A fake report was issued.
The Hasdal shelter and the Greater Istanbul Municipality are not strangers to these kind of massacres. Two years ago we launched an investigation that ended up costing the position to Arif Eker, the now disgraced former Head of the Veterinary Department.
For two years volunteers have been trying to help the shelters doing their job of Neuter and Return in a correct way. All these years animal lovers have to witness the cruelty and corruption of a group of municipal workers who routinely discharge their anger and frustrations on innocent lives.

But this time they have crossed the line.
On Thursday the 15th October, the Municipal Workers, the Butchers of Hasdal, ordered the animal lover volunteer to personally separate 20 healthy, under 3 month old puppies, and place them on a separate area to be killed.
On Friday morning those puppies together with another 35 ones were massacred savagely. There is no Euthanasia Solution at the Hasdal shelter as they have told the Jandarma Commander who was with us, investigating the matter today. The puppies were killed by a most horrific method. The bodies were disposed to avoid any investigation.
Hasan Gencdal and her gang of cronies have crossed the line.
We are calling upon the entire Istanbul and Turkish animal welfare community as well as the Media to condemn these killings and to work with us in, once and for all, bring order and humanity to the national (and international shame) of the Istanbul Shelter System.

It is so frustrating ...so many crimes around the world and there is no justice for the innocents. Those who should be , or better, ought to be the example of citizenship, developers of a better society are the worst, because they have the power to change things for the better but use it in a way completely opposite.

as I seen what I did not want to see has enraged me this last week has made me weep a lot for the animals and anger for the way people hurt and destroy animals, just like these innocent puppies yep Joycery I want to do the same thing to them, maybe they will have a shot at me, did I say maybe? uh not likly!!! need to form a posie and just take the stinking people like this out. email will be done . hugs
